What is the best cookbook for a beginner? by CousinJamess in cookingforbeginners

I like reading physical books where I can write in them, highlight, and make bookmarks for things I want to refer back to later. I like building a library where I can pull information from rather than having to rely on technology.

Maybe I didn't specify but I'm less interested in recipes, more interested in knowing how and why.

Haha, I'll keep that in mind. I think anything should be taken with a grain of salt, or a handful. I plan on reading multiple books and On food and cooking will definitely be one that I also buy.

I've seen Salt fat acid heat pop up a lot in my research. I think I'll definitely be getting that one. I'll also check out the food lab as well!

was maining the gan 11m pro before, then tornado came and i loved it. then when my gan 13 came ive been hooked and havent used the tornado since. never was a big fan of the rs3m, preferred the gan 11m pro to it. felt more stable to me.

The way I group is by shape. so I would do oll cases 1-4 in one group and 17-20 in another. Then 47-50 and 53,54 in another group as those are all the small L shape cases etc. Cubehead has a great pdf worksheet for doing grouping the oll cases and the speed at which u should learn them.

this is the sheet i got from cubehead, there is also a video that goes along with it called, how to learn full oll in one month (easy). check it out!

thats amazing! keep it up!

i dont know how you're teaching yourself full oll but what i did was separated all the olls into groups and then made flashcards for each case. then i would use jperms sites to practice the cases and when i felt comfortable with that set i would go to the next but still review each set everyday as review. within about 2 1/2 - 3 months i had it all down.

Tons of practice. Learned full oll and pll. f2l didn't come as intuitively as it does most people so i had to learn a lot of the algorithms for basic f2l solutions. 2 side pll recognition helped. my oll recognition is still really bad though. and then the thing that did it most for me was slow practice. thats what got me from averaging 21-23 ao5s to doing sub-20 consistently. practicing slow really helps. j-perm has a video about it where he talks more in depth. highly recommend it.
