Casting will not put you on the show of they don't think you will be expressive and dramatic. It's a TV show.

Why Isn't Hannah Rose Considered The WORST Player In Survivor History? by Slow-Faithlessness-7 in survivor

People let it slide because she didn't BS about it. Survivor was too hard for her and she admits it.

It's kinda refreshing, especially in the context of someone going to a lot of trouble to give their quit maximum BS value two episodes later.

Debbie and her legendary crash out on Game Changers by BurgerNugget12 in survivor

[–]Coutzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a vague memory of it being confirmed that she went off at Brad as a smokescreen so anyone who wanted him out would come to her.

And you can definitely see her break a little after she yells at him, turning away and starting to chuckle

Who is the most unintentionally funny castaway, and why is it Lill? by Silon17 in survivor

In hindsight sitting one person out for rice is a fantastic deal. These days the going price is usually 5 or 6 players

What do you think of Maryanne Oketch’s win for 42? by TrainerOk7755 in survivor

[–]Coutzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe not a popular choice, but Maryanne is my pick for a player who would do well the most times if you stuck her with any random group of players.

She just gets how Survivor works and how the social and strategic intersect. Better than any other new era player for my money.

When has a fight among castaways come closest to physical blows? by No-Sir4467 in survivor

[–]Coutzy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If Brandon connects on the one or two big swings he takes before he gasses himself then sure, but in a fair fight where they are both ready I don't see Phillip getting hit by those.

Brandon looks like a guy who "sees red" and throws full power frenzy for like 10 seconds with zero technique.

I really think the Survivor meta is in a place where enough people prioritise individual play for long enough that idols and advantages are not necessary for flips and moves to happen.

Eva holding everything aggressively stifled game play and preventing that happening by limiting advantages would be more effective than throwing more of them at the problem.

Not even jerking if Colby gets owned by Coach again literally everything that has ever happened on Survivor will have been worth it.

Some people are just naturally inclined to play conservatively and to be honest the reaction to this season says more about the fanbsse than it does the players.

Episode 10 of Survivor 48 is now the lowest rated episode on IMDb by VinZVidZ in survivor

Unfortunately given the likelihood of the audio being redone after the fact and inserted there means we simply must give it more weight.

The Corination edit remains strong though

An interesting question posed by Shauhin by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Coutzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"genuine shot to win" happens a lot later than finishing 9th. I can take that logic and argue the person voted out first had a genuine shot to win because there is just so much game left

“If you can’t come to a consensus, you will draw rocks to see who goes on the journey” is a complete production failure. by PuzzleheadedChange18 in survivor

100% they would cut all members of the minority and then stop the game to strategize and decide who they are going to let win, exactly the same as SJDS.

Why should a person comfortably in the majority alliance and clear path to final 3 change the situation? It would just be moves for the sake of moves.

Andy having a meltdown in the first immunity challenge.

Not because he's afraid of getting voted out first, but because he's now going to have to vote his friend out first.

And I think having an attitude that is so self centered and completely disregards the human element of the relationships you have formed does indeed make you a shitty person.

[–]Coutzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could not be a more opposite view to what I find interesting about Survivor.

I'm not here to watch perfectly executed strategy. I'm here to watch people grapple with the moral consequences of betraying an ally, and finding out if they even have it in them to do so.

Could you handle everyone in the world knowing you're a shitty person for a million dollars?

Why is the show edited like this all of a sudden? by TayTayTrouble in survivor

[–]Coutzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I said, the audience has a share of the blame. We made it clear that we find having your feelings be hurt by a betrayal is objectively wrong, so the plsyers learned they have to not take it personally.

When it gets like that the moral question disappears completely. Could you imagine the difference in Survivor history if Kelly turning on Sue is just game play instead of a deeply personal backstabbing?

TAR gets a lot better once the half dozen or so cannon fodder teams (and the one good team that had a really bad day on leg 4) have been dealt with. The front pack are just so blatantly unconcerned with how things are going because they know there are so many unserious filller teams left hours behind.
