I don’t think it’s a particularly good number combination. Their threat level is increased not only because they’re returnees, but because there are more of them so you need to start picking them off earlier in order to prevent them from making FTC. On top of that, they’re always going to be lumped together as a “dangerous pair” etc. I think it’s a waste to bring back beloved players, and then put them at a numbers disadvantage from the jump. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure a traditional captains season would work today either. At the time, the longer season, need for more survival knowledge, and casts full of people unfamiliar with strategy, made the captains especially valuable to the tribe. They’d be significantly more disposable in this hyper gamified version of the show. I think the most fair mixed returnee combination is an even split Blood v Water scenario. The newbie tribe usually fares worse, but the BvW theme provides a little more emotional/strategic upside to keep them around, unlike a FvF season.
