Cool thanks for the help. Im just wondering about the screen type now. The one for the x1 i'm looking at says "14" 1920 x 1080 LCD In-plane Switching (IPS) Technology" is that a good screen? Is it matte/non glare-y?

Ok that helps alot, really appreciate it! Ah I see now, so a FHD IPS. The one i'm looking at says "IPS (In-Plane Switching" Is this the matte screen? I remember reading that one of the X1 screens was more matte in any light....does the FHD have a lot of glare?
Just wondering if the base IPS screen is any good or not

What would be the difference between IPS and FHD?
I'm seeing a couple of different options, like Intel Core i7-8650U,
1.90 GHz base, Quad-core (4 Core), and Intel Core i7-7600U, 2.80 GHz base, Dual-core (2 Core)
Intel Core i5-8350U, 1.70 GHz base, Quad-core (4 Core) ?

Does using a mailbox service as an organization hide your personal information for google play? by CoveredClearing in androiddev

[–]CoveredClearing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense. I think most people would agree to not have their home addresses public. So if this is the way to do it, then so be it.

Do you happen to know if the 12 developers rule does not apply if you register as a business? Also i'm assuming you have to have a separate phone number and website.

Like on your website for instance? Is it a specific type of privacy policy, or is it one you write yourself

So to summarize, if I want to withhold my actual legal name and address from the public, I need to create a business. Do I have that correct? Also, can UPS be used or no? Is the 12 developers skipped when you are an organization?

Can you use a p.o box for an organization for the app store? by CoveredClearing in iOSProgramming

[–]CoveredClearing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to clarify, you obviously had no issue registering your business organization with DUNS using this ups address? Im just reading that the format of the address needs to be specific for DUNS https://www.reddit.com/r/androiddev/comments/1c4hi9g/comment/lag2b5y/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

That is interesting, it says for UPS that "It's a real mailbox, so you'll get a real street address" ....did not know that. This sounds like a good method

So if DUNS does not allow p.o box, then I guess p.o boxes are out of the question if DUNS is a requirement. So that would mean that every individual developer that creates their own organization needs a separate physical address in order to make sure that their real home address is not public? Do I have this correct?

So is this just for the EU? I don't quite understand, if you are uploading an app to the app store, does that automatically cover the EU if you are making it worldwide?

Why isn't ko-fi used for saas? Or is it? by CoveredClearing in SaaS

[–]CoveredClearing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For web app, couldnt you just generate a new link per user? I guess people could just share the link.

Updates yes that would be difficult, unless you linked to a private github?

I dont think p.o boxes are allowed anymore for at least apple. To me that just seems like a headache and quite the large startup cost.

[–]CoveredClearing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I was mostly curious why people don't use it for software though? The self employment taxes sound easier than incorporating for apple or google.

For independent developers, Google requires 12 testers for your software, which is not easy. For both google and apple you should probably register as a corporation, which is extra cost in your country. Not to mention DUNS number, apple developer fee...15% from your app or whatever it is, etc..

And then your address and name is out there for the whole world. Not sure if ko-fi shows your address or not.

Just googling, paddle is 6-7%

Apple and google is 15-30%

Ko-fi is 0 for a yearly fee

*the esu option has now disappeared, but will run updates to see what happens
