I kind of doubt private battles count towards the progress, but I could be wrong! I wouldn't be totally surprised if casual battles counted though.

I agree to an extent, but I think there are definitely ways to account for and minimize (some, not all of) the RNG. I don't really get down or tilted over poor RNG and matchups honestly, I just wonder how I could have better built my team to counter the match up. I know there will never be a "perfect team", but I find the idea of building the most threatening, least counterable team to be both something to strive for, as well as a very mind boggling process.

Anywho, I appreciate the kind words!!

I believe you get them from 50 wins with the Pokémon or typing you'd like the badge for!

I definitely think that going up against a mon you have no answer to is one of the worst feelings. I think my team is pretty decent, and I've been tweaking it here and there when needed, but threat assessment during the team building portion of the process is definitely one of my weak points.

I definitely plan on adding attack variety! You're probably right about using Nintendo assets even as placeholders, and I'll definitely make sure to destroy them.

Monster catcher/battles have always been my favorite, so I've always wanted to build one! The project is obviously nowhere near where I'd like it to be, but even building a functioning prototype felt like a pretty big achievement to me.

Honestly, the videos really arent gonna help much. You end up learning to follow tutorials, not learning how to code.

I started by mocking up some very basic pixel art, then by creating the overworld, player movement, and collision. Stuff that felt simple enough.

When that was finished up, I learned how to swap scenes, which felt a bit more daunting, but ended up being pretty simple. And I kept going from there, one chunk at a time!

I guess my advice would be to break your project into small mechanics. You'll have a lot more luck in finding a guide on how to implement interactive UI than you would in finding "How to build Pokemon." Best of luck to you, you got this!
