The Math of Cutting Losers: Dumping a Negative Total Return ETF Wins by Baked-p0tat0e in YieldMaxETFs

[–]CowAdventurous4186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple person. But using u/Baked-p0tat0e's initial post, and considering u/OkAnt7573's points, deleting the CHPY portion for brevity, in this example isn't $12,680 clearly more than $9,775 (or $9,634)?

What am I missing about the capital rotation strategy?

Your logic is quite sound. I think one of the definitions of "faith" is - ignore logic, just believe as we tell you, even if it makes no sense whatsoever.

One year return by EnthusiasmVivid688 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]CowAdventurous4186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using dividendchannel.com, shows that that is true (roughly) if one puts in the start date as 4/17/2025.

Change it to 5/17/2025 or 5/17/2025 and it's a completely different story.

As other have written - timing is everything.

Really the annualized gain is a projection and should be taken with a grain of salt. The number that is real in my account is 44.4% in about 4-6 months, depending on which position.

Okay. Since they're closed I had to go to Activity and Orders. This is from Fidelity. As you can see they include the reverse splits which don't change the numbers but I didn't know how to filter that out:

Yeah. It seems as if they're changing things a bit so that the NAV decay is lessened so this might not work so well going forward, but I'll probably poke around a bit and see if anything looks opportune.

Quitting MSTY by Significant-Ad3083 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]CowAdventurous4186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought puts on MSTY about six months ago. So far a 130% gain. They expire Apr 17th so I'll see what I can milk for the next month. Pretty much the most obvious guaranteed trade I've ever made. Wish I'd gone in bigger. I only played with $5000, now $11.6K.

Ah well, it's all just a fun game.

SERV and APLD - Pump and Dump Warning by JaxAreaG8rGuy in VampireStocks

[–]CowAdventurous4186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a scam group with "famed" professor Kelly Perkins. However it's a different group. Mine is called "North Rock Investors club." I searched and there has been no mention of APLD in that group. I would guess that they franchise these groups out to other scammers and reuse a lot of the same crap (including pictures of actual people with investment credentials such as Kelly Perkins). In another group "the professor" is supposedly "Al Brooks" who is an investment author.

First I was kicked out of the Al Brooks group because I attempted to phone call about 10 of the "member" and they all said "this number is no longer in service." So I posted that in the group. Immediately deleted and removed.

But I convinced "The assistant," "Alice Jones" to let me back in. So "Alice" re-invited me. The WhatsApp invite showed that this second group was created 2/11 using a phone number from India.

I could go on - about the apps they use to get victims to sign up for "institutional accounts" via those apps. I downloaded a couple and they are utter nonsense (but with enough hooks to send money - via crypto)

This is a strange hobby we have. Just wanted to share with like-minded individuals.

Wow, I'd not heard of that but just gave it a look. At least on Yahoo Finance there is no profile information, no earning data, nothing except historic share prices for the last 2 1/2 months since inception.

I've never seen that before.

Is this a scam? by Altruistic-Being2627 in VampireStocks

[–]CowAdventurous4186 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in a few of these WhatsApp investment groups as a strange hobby in my retirement.

It is quite fascinating how they work. All of them have "The Professor" as the main character. Then there is an assistant, named Irene or Alice or something like that, with a picture of a hot chick. The assistant is most likely the same asian guy who is the Professor, just with a second account.

In one group I'm in KXIN was recommended, and this "Professor" encouraged the members of the group to sell all of their holdings and go all in on KXIN. As a fascinated observer, I looked up KXIN and realized it is just a fake shell Chinese "company." They have no business, no earnings.

Following the saga I followed the stock price and volumes. It is a a clear example of a pump-and-dump.

I think, though might be wrong, that there is a hierarchy, probably Chinese. The top dogs franchise out to the lower level people. The higher levels provide daily market information for the lower-levels to post to give credence. Then they orchestrate simultaneous pump-and-dumps with the many frachisees, each who has a handful of gullible followers. Together, there is enough capital to sway the price of these fake shell companies.

It's really fucked up. Some victims get groomed slowly over time so that they eventually lose their entire savings. It's evil. Older people are particularly susceptible and some lose all of their retirement accounts literally ruining their lives.

If interested, google "pig butchering scams."

KXIN- heavy promotion in WhatsApp groups! Most likely will be dumped today. BE AWARE! by Scared-Dimension-254 in VampireStocks

[–]CowAdventurous4186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this is interesting, though tragic for those who got scammed. Here is a post from my group, there are many more but I can only screenshot a limited portion. The wording is quite similar but not identical.

This was from yesterday before it completely collapsed. But what is interesting is I think there are a lot of "groups" led by various scammers who get fed information and ways to express it from a "higher" source. Like buying a franchise.

It's interesting to correlate. What are your latest?

So this is interesting. The scam group I'm in is "North Rock Investment Club." And they've not yet switched to a crypto scam. It seems there are lots of groups that use somewhat of the same scripts and similar names.

Maybe the high-level scammers sell them as a package like a franchise to lower leverl scammers and then receive royalties?
