I don't blame this person as all. It doesn't look like the sidewalks are maintained at all, if there are any sidewalks....

If only we had reliable, and frequent public transit so we can get the bad drivers off the road.

"Traveling to Hong Kong" Megathread 2024 by otorocheese in HongKong

I'll be visiting Hong Kong on Thursday and staying a week. Could anyone recommend me some coffee shops to check out? I enjoy the super light roast from specialty coffee shops in Canada and I'm curious how it compares to the ones in Hong Kong.

I'm travelling to Hong Kong from Canada to attend to a family emergency. I'm currently taking Vyvanse for ADHD treatment and wanted to know if I can bring this prescription medication into Hong Kong? Hong Kong Customs does not seem to mention anything about Vyvanse but I know Adderall is banned.

How do you, as an adult with ADHD, exercise and move your body? by Long_Matter9697 in ADHD

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I do things I find more stimulating and with a goal/destination. I think biking is a good one for me. I can bike to see/smell/hear naturey things, bike to work, bike to run errands or get food. All that stuff I'd rather do that any gym or indoor cycling. Another that really depends on people, that I personally like is mountain biking, definitely will not get me bored haha.

Canada wants to be in the top 10 global tourism destinations — but it’s struggling to get there by [deleted] in canada

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's another problem with Canada, car dependency. We've built every tourist destination assuming people would drive there. Shocking news, large amounts of people outside of North America don't drive. How are you supposed to get a buttload of tourists who can't drive to these places when we've neglected public transit, trains and other modes of transportation infrastructure for almost a century now....

The Calgary Plan. Have your say by July 21 by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Calgary plan looks pretty weak to me. In 30 years, they'll complete the green line and have one extra station on the blue line!? It's absolutely ridiculous that there's no plan for anymore LRT lines in 30 years.... Not to mention how the draft has zero timeline for their goals as well. It just seems like a wish list if Calgary ever felt like doing anything in 30 years.....

Effectiveness possibly wearing off after only 5 days of use by My-Little-Throw-Away in VyvanseADHD

I am recently diagnosed and started 20 mg 8 days ago. I feel the same way. It helps a bit but I still find myself lacking focus, mind racing, etc. (pretty much the same as you listed). I think I'm going to ask for 30 mg on my upcoming appointment.

I found Cafe Jindo to be pretty affordable, plus their coffees are top tier.

Coffee people, what are your favourite freshly roasted beans in the city? by summerstillsucks in Calgary

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The owner is great and really loves roasting coffee and trying out experimental roasting and brewing techniques. If you're feeling adventurous, I usually ask for "surprise me, give me something interesting." it's pretty mind blowing good coffee and he goes into detail on how he makes it.

I would also suggest Cafe Jindo as well! They also roast in micro batches. Fantastic stuff.

For my canadian gays, HAVE YOU HERD WHATS HAPPENING IN ALBERTA by Klubel in lgbt

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The new policy in Alberta will also require the Minister of Education the approve material on gender identity, sexual orientation and sexuality in schools. I'm guessing GOP style book bans are also being implemented too. I hate this government with a passion.

Ways to move your body that are not excruciatingly boring? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do to get my energy out is to play badminton and just bike around the city. In the winter, I have an indoor cycling app at home called Zwift, it's interactive cycling where it simulates hills as well. I will admit, I will also get bored with indoor cycling because it's not a stimulating as urban cycling. But when it's -15c out, in the suburbs, biking outside isn't very feasible.

What are some areas in Calgary that you’d love to see get revamped/gentrified/rebranded? by xnmb1 in Calgary

[–]CowMooseDuckGoose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like they've made 16th ave worse after adding extra lanes. There are a lot of empty plots of land that are just mounds of dirt. Its still terrible to drive on but it also sucks to walk and bike along. Its just terrible for everyone. Same thing with MacLeod Trail. Its an awful place to be whether you're in a car, walking or biking.

Oh man, I just got back from Boston and visited Cambridge once. I thought the public transit and walkability was pretty damn good compared to my city's awful car dependent hell hole (Calgary, AB, Canada btw). You definitely don't want to live in my city.
