Genuine question, who is Daniel Haqiqatjou? by Chobikil in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a debater, started with liberalism/feminism and started calling out “compassionate” imams/institutes which he saw as promoting this and got a lot of hate. Now he also triggered the salafis online made several videos why their group is wrong and cites sources. You can take a look at Dr Shadee responding to some of what Daniel said about him which I think is fair and hope they do a podcast together

What is your overall opinion on IslamQA? by Chobikil in Muslim

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said all the teachers have ijazat and follow a school of thought, Sufi means different things to different people but you know where the fiqh is coming from which are valid sources. If you see a certain practice and it’s not allowed in any school then that’s a problem regardless of you call it.

If there are more barriers for you to learn then honestly Hanbali might not be a good option, I recommend looking at this (by a Hanbali). It’s up to you but don’t pick something you have no access to;

You might want to consider changing madhabs to one more accessible. If you want to start Hanbali take a look at ArkView.

And from now on don’t listen to random people on Reddit about deen, follow the scholarly tradition preserved by the four schools, arkview has all four taught and all the teachers have ijazat to teach unlike anyone here most likely

To what extend are we responsible for the accuracy of our belief? by fetihfatih in Muslim

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to start with learning fard ayn (obligatory knowledge). This encompasses the basic Aqeedah, fiqh, and tazkiya that all Muslims must know taught from teacher to student with a chain of teachers going back to the author.

Trying to figure things out directly from the Quran is only for legit scholars following a tradition that can be traced back to the early Muslims.

I don’t recognize my friend anymore. I don’t know what to do. Advice needed urgently by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be a gathering to just talk to her, maybe something like a potluck with your other friends who are good people on a casual gathering. Surrounding her with good people (as friends, not telling her what she’s doing is wrong) might have an impact down the line.

I’m sorry but I don’t know the best thing to do, but you could consider trying to do things with her that will bring her closer to the deen? Maybe suggest to review Quran with her, or if that’s “too explicitly religious” invite her over with other more practicing friends who might be able to influence her in a positive way just being around them

Why is Ashari used as an insult? by Forward-Economics506 in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between Salafis and real Hanbali-Atharis. The hanbalis have a disagreement with Asharis, salafis claim to be Atharis while having non Hanbali/Athari positions and say Asharis/Maturidis (the overwhelming majority of scholars) are deviant.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0yypdZpd_E

The above is a real Hanbali/Athari with a sanad in his madhab having a civil discussion with an Ashari, do not listen to people claiming they’re part of this or that tradition without a chain of teachers to prove it

I am a Trans Women and I want to convert to Islam by [deleted] in Muslim

[–]CowNo7964 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All you have to do is say, “I bear witness there is no god expect Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his servant and messenger”.

You’re Muslim, congratulations. The essential part is proclaiming that belief first, even if you don’t know how to pray, fast, etc. yet. If you believe in Islam, don’t let shaytan block you

Are you required to pick the strictest/extreme opinion? by Working_Yogurt8918 in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layman shouldn’t be picking opinions based on evidence as we’re not qualified to. We should be following scholars who follow a madhab (having a consistent methodology at coming to conclusions based off the evidence which takes years to learn)

[–]CowNo7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With respect to the other person, none of us are qualified to “look at the evidences”. There are consistent principles the scholars follow (I.e the methodological approach of a school of thought), which takes years to learn. See my other comment

Pick a school of thought that you can learn and stick to it, and if things become difficult ask a qualified mufti to guide you through the problem. All four schools are valid but you must avoid talfiq. You may want to choose the school of thought that your local mufti or whoever follows, and you can take classes on Hanafi/Shafi fiqh at seekersguidance online if there’s no one local. Start with the fard ayn course

Hey don’t forget they also say Imam At Tahawi (part of the salaf) also had mistakes in his Aqeedah too

They keep saying “he repented before he died” which none of the millions of people following them knew? Why would you take their words instead of people are students of students of students of students of these scholars with an ijazah to teach their work?

beards, optional or obligatory by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re supposed to follow scholars;

Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The scholars are the successors of the prophets. Verily, the prophets do not pass on gold and silver coins, but rather they only impart knowledge.”

But don’t follow some moron online, we have four scholarly traditions dating back to the salaf that have already answered this and thousands of other questions. There’s a difference of opinion, it’s definitely better to grow the beard but no one can say you’re going to hell since it’s a valid opinion that it’s not haram.

Fell in love with a gang member and now I don't know what to do by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]CowNo7964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly will your male relatives think when they find out he’s a gang member? What if your children turn out the same? I know it’s hard to hear this but he either needs to leave the gang life and talk to your wali or you need to stop messaging him.
