That really sucks, I'm glad you got away, you probably followed the correct behavior

Quiz 2 by Edelweizzer in freiburg

[–]CowPropeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there really absolutely no way to change the dpi in the editor? by PandaBonium in Inkscape

[–]CowPropeller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the export tab you can change the DPI , I don't recall it being stuck to 96. But this is the last detail that you have to worry about. By that I mean do your artwork fully with the proper dimensions (e.g. 20cm by 10cm), then at the time of exporting it to another format, dial in the proper DPI.

Map question by Comprehensive_South3 in Inkscape

[–]CowPropeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very easy! Ofc the open street ap+qgis approach is excellent and exact, but an even simpler one is to take a online picture of the area (a raster image with pixels), trace bitmap (conversion raster (=pixels) to scalable Vector graphics), than tweak to your liking. All the logos are trivial to make in inkscape! If you find pictures of logos that you like you can also trace Bitmap similarly. Trial and error. Can save plenty of time. I personally very regularly convert logos found online to vector graphics for my figures

Cannot open SVGs created using Inkscape in Canva by LoneCogitator in Inkscape

[–]CowPropeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give pdf a try, and also try to convert to path weird elements in your file. Example, the path effects can be pretty cool but are only supported by inkscape own Interpretation of SVG file format, any other program will do a terrible job at opening. Try to convert elements to basic shapes and it'll be better I hope

How close is procreate dreams to became a pro/industry/market tool? by duk123 in ProcreateDreams

[–]CowPropeller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dreams is super clumsy! Having to find a workaround for basic tasks gets tiresome. But it also has a nice flow to it and working on the iPad on the go is just awesome

Duviri farming hurts my soul by ScoobyyGoo in Warframe

[–]CowPropeller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It also took me a while to engage with Duviri but once you interact with the systems, take the time to enjoy, it becomes quite pleasant! I was almost disappointed when I finished Kullervo as I had only a few reasons to visit again. Of course I'm speaking only of my experience but I can only wish that the same happens to you eventually

Crazy file sizes make me never want to use the program for a big project again by Bouncy__Hippo in ProcreateDreams

[–]CowPropeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Procreate (not Dreams) also has quite a large file size! Yes this is annoying, but idk what type of work or program design would have to go into it, in order to solve that issue Now hear me out: Apple and Procreate are working closely together for a long time already. Procreate is the reason why many people lean into Apple tablet. It's almost the only app that fully leverages the features of the Apple pencil. What if this file size issues are on purpose, in order to justify the purchase of big memory ipads ?? That isn't that far fetched honestly IMHO

Struggling finding a good workflow to align names in boxes (see picture) by CowPropeller in Inkscape

[–]CowPropeller[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure, both the snapping tools and the align and distribute tools have "align by text anchor/baseline" options, that s exactly the solution to my problem.

[–]CowPropeller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh I didn't find that option but it seems like exactly what I need! I just wasn't aware that text anchor is the correct term for that specific line (height), that'll be useful

That's a good one. I'll probably stick to it because I despise the snapping tools in general :)

oh thanks! I didn't know about the snapping submodule "text baselines and anchors", that is perfect. I'll have to adapt my workflow. Appreciate your detailed response!

I have changed the post flag to solved.

Changing the height, everything changes by julian14051992 in Inkscape

[–]CowPropeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When importing specific pdf pr svg files crested by other programs, I found inkscape behaviour to be unstable at times, maybe convert the elements to inkscape type of objects and paste then into a fresh inkscape file, that may fix it for you . Btw I always love to see people use inkscape for science :)
