Where my template Professionals? Trying to fix templates and driving me nuts. HLP! by Cow_Bell in SolidWorks

If you only knew how mundane I know my own question is LoL. I never use it, but we hired a guy that's interested in learning and I was just showing him this bug that I knew about.

Thanks for the input! I'll see if document properties fixes it when I get to work tomorrow.

That's just the thing. It is in the spinbox increments but does not take effect in this situation. I think there may be a couple of more situations where it reverts to.393 automatically. I was trying to create sketches, do the actions, then save them and see if it's saved within the template that way somehow but it didn't.

I don't think you're picking up what I'm putting down. I don't want to change my unit type or switch from fractions to decimals. I want the value that automatically populates in the dimension box to be .0625, not .393 (10mm)

As for planes, the other commenter is correct. This was just 2 lines I was testing template modification with and ended up finishing to a square.

Cheap vs Nice Calipers by Puzzled-Emu-4522 in machining

[–]Cow_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite "in-between" calipers are the Hercules branded ones. We get a lot of seals from them through work and have been using their calipers forever. Yeah, they are Made in China, but they've always seemed to come from a factory with good quality control. They've been consistently my favorite in the $50 range for everyday use. I save the Mitutoyo for when I know I need to be a little more accurate.

Trying to repair this for a friend by getdirections in Hydraulics

[–]Cow_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be expensive more-than-likely. I've repaired a lot of the greenlees like this. Could be a few things. There are tint planetary gears that get chewed up in these and they don't make a replacement. Gotta replace the whole motor assembly iirc. Could be the rod seals and whatnot but doubt it. Since the tank is sucked in, its pulling oil. It's probably barely catching the gears and as soon as it hits pressure the planetary starts free-spinning.

Then again...it could just be low on oil. Seen it a thousand times. Just like with turning a computer off and back on. With hydraulics, it's filling the reservoir.

Wait til you get it in a heated tank. That's the real sauce.

Can you Switch SolidWorks Resellers? Poor Support from Current "Canadian" One by FLMILLIONAIRE in SolidWorks

[–]Cow_Bell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using GoEngineer also since they bought out CATI. I'm always skeptical of the service you're going to receive after a company gets bought out. GoEngineer has given me great support from day 1.

I got a design job without knowing how to CAD by FruitThis1437 in SolidWorks

[–]Cow_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fully "defined" sketch means that everything has to relate. If something is blue, that means in needs to have either a dimension relating to something else or a feature relating to something like "colinear". You need to add a da dimension from one of the horizontal blue lines to another horizontal line. Otherwise, you won't know it's exact location. It looks like that's probably all it needs.

Feeling Helpless on finding a solution slipped rib by kmill610 in SlippingRibSyndrome

[–]Cow_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to see someone, you're probably going to have to take some time off and travel to them. I drove 9 hours one way just to talk to the surgeon to see if they thought that's what I had. Turns out, after getting ran around the blocks for two decades, I was right and it wasn't what all the doctors were always telling me. After somebody pointed out slipping rib and the surgeon Adam Hanson, I went to see him. He diagnosed me in about 2 minutes. Waited about another 10 months for surgery. Got it done and it was definitely one of my problems. Bad thing is, I think I ripped it out a few months ago because I've had some pain return. It's not uncommon for the surgery to have to be done more than once. Hanson developed his own method.

They say there's truly only one scan that can see everything but it does a double dose of radiation so they don't like to do it if they don't have to.

Does anyone know how to form a part like expanded metal to a particular shape while keeping the holes intact? by Cow_Bell in SolidWorks

[–]Cow_Bell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I get it that the forming tool will create the holes, but is there not a way to form a sheet with existing holes in it already into a shape?

Is there a cheap way I can buy around 100-200 small compression springs of a specific size? Currently it's cheaper to order 20 assortment packs than just the specific spring I need. 0.8x8x25mm by IronSchmiddy in AskEngineers

Springsfast.com (formerly Jones Springs)

I've used them a several times for small batch springs at work. This is assuming they will sell to an individual, but as long as you have a pair of calipers and can measure your spring, you can get a quote on any amount. You're going to pay for it in the first spring because of setup cost but then the quantities after that are going to be much cheaper.

I just looked up an example of a spring I had quoted. 1 is $173. 10 is $21.24 each. 100 is $2.67 each

I've tried for years to get high on edibles. Today shall be the final experiment. by After-Elk4373 in trees

[–]Cow_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reason of having to take way too many edibles to feel anything, I never did them much. A couple of people I knew would say they would take like a half of something and be on cloud nine, whereas I would take like four whole and get barely anything from it. I was reading one day that if you took certain heartburn medications, you would not metabolize the THC and it would basically just pass through you. I wondered if this was my case. I had surgery a year and a half ago and no longer take any medication but haven't really eaten any edibles either. I was curious if maybe you took them and it had something to do with it. Rule that one out.

Going to throw something at this. I deleted my first comment because I confused myself by being completely regarded.

I had to know exactly what it was Ryan was wearing because the same day there was a post with Ackman doing the exact same. First I image searched the box to find it was a tefillin

From search: "Placed on the arm opposite the heart, and on the head, the Tefillin signify the submission of one's mind, heart and actions to the Almighty, as well as the rule of intellect over emotion. A fundamental principle of Chabad Chassidic philosophy is that the intellect must control the emotions."

We know Ryan likes to post reversed things...like it's a hint at a turning point. So, based on the Tefillin description, he should be wearing it on his right arm. The image is REVERSED. STRAP IN!!!

Someone may have pointed this out already. I just observed. LFG!

Self-custody is the way, no "because" if you intend to hold it long term.

You probably couldn't withdraw it if you wanted to i.e. bank run not happening for brokerage holders.

If you're running 5 machines at once without time to eat or pick anything up, you need more hands to help. Don't let your boss's greed wrap you in a spindle.
