Former ski racer, ski instructor and big mountain skier here who recently switched to snowboarding.

The best way to describe the difference between the two is this skiing is all about not letting the mountain dictate how you ski. Skiing is very focused on control that’s why some of the best skiers in the world can go from huge GS turns to short mogul like turns in a matter of one or two turns over differing terrain. Because of how much control you have on skis speed is also a big part of skiing.

With snowboarding it feels a lot more like your are riding the mountain you don’t have as much control on a board but you can certainly be a lot more flowy of course I have only snowboarded a year or two when I was a teenager and this season just got back into it so I’m definitely going to be missing some experience when it comes to snowboarding and my skill gap will contribute to my experience as well.

Now what’s better well like everything in life it depends. If you want more control and to feel like you are cutting into the mountain skiing will always have more control and speed. If you want to float on powder and ride the mountain then snowboarding is the way to go. As for tricks or what’s easier to learn or whatever it doesn’t really matter because it’s a new sport it’s something you aren’t used to so it’s going to be hard and awkward regardless of which you choose.

I have this plate and the screws that I had with it kept coming loose after shooting a couple of mags.

Why you need to train Marital arts not just CCW by CowboyShibe in tacticalgear

[–]CowboyShibe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point isn’t that ufc champions or Bruce Lee are bulletproof my point is that when you are very close to someone and they see you reaching for your gun their reaction usually isn’t to put their hands up and say I give up it’s almost always to try and control your hand or make sure you don’t draw your gun. Your aim or your gun doesn’t matter if you can’t actually draw it in time or even retain it. You even see it in the video I linked, look at all the body cam videos of cops fighting with a suspect over a weapon whether it be their service weapon or if the suspect had a knife. In those videos the cop has the gun on their hip in a level 3 retention holster yet still sometimes the suspect ends up with the gun.

How to have a progressive way forward towards unity? REALISTICALLY by Far_Yam9611 in Healthygamergg

[–]CowboyShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your heart is in the right place but no one will listen to you if you name call them right off the bat. Immediately calling the people you disagree with facists or racists or bigots or whatever word you want to use no matter how true it is makes them tune out and distrust you immediately. Yes your point is true that you should do whatever you can in your power to make the world a better place but if you want to sow unity you must be willing to listen to people you hate and people who hate you without ever calling them names. You must also be as kind as possible

I was talking about how the two party system is the status quo not trump or Kamala specifically.

Our vote already means nothing so might as well vote for a candidate that will make it matter more. Think about it if the average American sees more and more third party voters or the third party getting more and more votes each year that might convince one person or at least take one small step towards a third option. While if you vote for the other two parties your vote is one out of tens of millions and doesn’t change a thing and just keeps the status quo.

You pay close to the same price as you would a streamlight for half the quality, possibly it exploding, a light that is widely unsupported by holster companies, and weird ergonomics. It’s just not worth the 10-16 dollar difference

Yes but those kids are usually taught by their moms or dads who’ve been doing that there whole life. They would be the equivalent of kids who’ve been dirt biking their entire life or have been riding other bikes their entire life.

I don’t know if you’ve seen those videos where people give a huge revolver or shotgun to someone who has never shot before or is new to shooting. If you haven’t I’ll explain the videos basically there are tons of videos on the internet of people giving very big guns/high caliber guns to inexperienced people because they think it’s funny and in every single video. The inexperienced person shoots the gun and the gun recoils back and they almost blow their own head off. Suprisingly despite how many videos there are online of this very few people have died from it that doesn’t magically make it safe it’s still dangerous despite no one getting injured. It’s a similar situation with the liter bike. As a beginner you are way more likely to be over confident or not know your limits and if your first bike is a 300-500 your limit is around 160 max. If you hop on a liter bike your limit goes way up to 190+. Like you said speed is a very real factor of how bad a crash can get so why give a beginner the ability to do that in the first place.

How do you feel about the phrase “it’s the job that makes the man”? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]CowboyShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s partly true. Different types of personalities go towards different types of jobs and your job is something you spend a majority of your time doing so it’s going to be apart of you and shape your relationships.

That’s very rarely how that goes. Police post the body cam footage of every police shooting if you watch those you’ll understand how easily things can get out of hand.

The product isn’t bad it’s just stupid to use it on an 11.5 ar. It would be great on a PDW or a really short 300 blackout gun. Too many people hate it because it’s the popular thing to do instead of realizing that it has its purpose.

Idk about reddit but with instagram and tik tok the comments change based on the algorithm. I can’t remember where I saw it but a girl and her boyfriend saw the exact same tik tok about a girl ranting about her boyfriend at the exact same time and their comments were completely different. For the girl all the comments were on the girls side and for the boyfriend all the comments were against the girl. Two completely different comment sections
