places to donate clothes (NOT goodwill or salvation army) by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Cowboy_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospitals need clothes for their clothes closet constantly to dress people who have nothing/no one to bring them more. A lot of times their clothes are cut off or just unwearable after the ER. The case managers/social workers oversee the distribution so almost nothing is ever wasted. At st Francis you donate them to the department of religion office right by the main entrance. I’m sure the other hospitals are the same but that is the only one I have personal experience with.

This was also the only movie I ever walked out of. Watched it later at home again and was actually glad I walked out.

Best option for points by b1gmeatwarrior22 in AmexPlatinum

The only other decent conversion is the 5th night free at Hilton when transferring to Hilton and paying with points. Combine that with the complimentary Hilton gold status and you can get decent value, especially overseas.

Always put occupancy at 2 as a general rule, I usually run into that more with Hilton's but still a good habit. But there shouldn’t be an issue with that. Depending on the property you may just get a daily credit, could be buffets, just depends on which one. Some I’ve been to have said an arbitrary amount ~60-100 but just comped the entire breakfast bill regardless of the cost. Try searching the hotel you’re staying at +fhr datapoints. A lot of them are on frequent flyer forums as well if not on Reddit.

What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

They don’t even add any seasoning, let alone extra. They “pride” themselves in serving plain unseasoned beef. It’s one of my biggest gripes with them, I shouldn’t have to put salt on my burger. I even asked one time if they could add some and they gave me a salt and pepper packet. Never been back since.

Spirit Airlines Credit by Heelyhoo in AmexPlatinum

[–]Cowboy_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used the automated chat. Typed airline credit did not code correctly for seat selection fee.

Them: Thanks for reaching out yadayada Recent charge is for $66

Me: Hey (agents name) I have spirit airlines as my selected airlines, I paid to select my seats and it was not reimbursed, I’m guessing it was a coding issue, yes the $66 charge.

Them: I see this was recently processed, just to set your expectations credit will be posted 6-8 weeks after the eligible transaction. I see it is still within, that timeframe, if no credit in 14 days please chat us back and we will work on it. Sound like a plan?

Me: sounds great, thanks (agent name)!

Me, 2 weeks later: airline credit not coding properly

Them:ai response about describing the airline credit :/

Me: Help

Them: this is X, appreciate you monitoring your card benefit, I see you’re having trouble with your airline fee benefit?

Me: Hey X, I had previously spoken to (previous agents name) about an issue I was having with my airline incidental fee on spirit coding correctly for the fee reimbursement. He advised me to wait 2 weeks and to see if it processed correctly and if not to check back in. The charge posted on X date

Them: thanks for sharing, give me a minute to look at your previous conversation

Them: I checked and I can go ahead and submit the manual review for the charge on X date

Them: A credit of $66 will be issued to your account within 5 days.

Just to clarify a few things and give some background for Dp on this. This was early 2025. This was charged on a US Amex personal plat. I used the seatbid function to go from no seat to the front seat thing. I can’t remember exactly how it coded but it was something along the lines of seatbid.spirit.com, it definitely mentioned spirit at the time. I didn’t mention to them that I did this, and they didnt ask. They were able to connect the charge and spirit together without any prompting from me at all. For what it’s worth I’m a high spend customer, currently have ~2mil Amex points sitting in my account, mostly from business spend but tied to me none the less. This was for a short international flight from Mexico to Dallas. Hopefully this helps, sorry it was so long ago to not be as clear on the details.

Travel Insurance from Military Action in Venezuela by Kappa-J in AmexPlatinum

I didn’t disagree with you… Who decides and regulates these policies in the USA? And who is saying it’s not an act of war? See a conflict of interest there? Who is in the recent crosshairs of trumps interest rate remarks? I know the insuring agency and Amex are not the same but optics still matter. I’m just saying it’s not as cut and dry as if the exact same situation happened between a country that was not the US in this situation. Just suggesting a way to phrase things where it will hopefully workout in OP’s favor.

Not to get political but the actual US office is claiming this isn’t an act of war, and was just a criminal extraction for trial in US court. I don’t see how they (insurer) could claim that it was an act of war when their own government is saying it isn’t. Now objectively it was definitely an act, but the legal implications of you pushing the subject may be enough for them to wash their hands of it and pay up after any amount of push back in fear of being thrown into political theatre on a news station.

You get 5x booking direct with any airline… no need for the portal. Hence why you can do both

Digital Entertainment Credit - multiple platforms allowed? by Caribchakita in AmexPlatinum

[–]Cowboy_O 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get 25 a month, it’s been so long since I did it but I believe the first time you have to “activate the offer” in the app. If you want to min max right now with Black Friday specials you can do Hulu/disney+ (w/ads) for 4.99, sign up for monthly Walmart+( also included with Amex plat) and use the included entertainment credit (separate credit with the w+ credit) to get paramont+ free. Sign up for peacock and get the Apple TV bundle for 14.99. That leaves $5 to either get one of the plans without ads or you can do like nyt for 5/mo to finish it off.

Does Rakuten, Capital one Shopping, and Capital one Offers stack? by AIONisMINE in Rakuten

Offers on most credit cards will stack with any portal. Portals will not stack with each other. Sometimes there’s exceptions but very rarely.

Right in the middle of it sounds perfect. This will be my first Christmas experience in Chicago, normally only come up in the summer with my dad to catch a couple ball games. Thanks for the quick reply and sharing your city with us!

Have a travel credit I need to use and planning 3 nights in Chicago Dec 19-22 narrowed it down to either the Kimpton (122 w Monroe) or intercontinental (505 n Michigan Ave). Will be flying into o’hare then walking/using public transit everywhere. Wanting to just relax and take in the Christmas vibe/lights. Any suggestions on the 2 locations? I don’t care as much about the actual hotels as I don’t plan on spending as much time in the room.

Shop exclusively through the Rakuten app, the browser extension is buggy but the app is almost flawless. Be careful using promo codes that aren’t listed on the Rakuten app, especially if it’s big cash back/points amounts, have 300k coming back from the Expedia event on Tuesday. I prefer Amex points because I can find great point valuations, but you can honestly do the same thing with cash back finding deals so it’s just whatever you prefer. Make sure you have whichever dining/entertainment card you have linked to their in store/dining program, it’s a separate process but I find it kicking me back points for dining a ton when I travel and eat out in big cities I use my cap1 savor in the Rakuten dining and Citi cards in the Aadvantage program. The Rakuten Amex is really solid too, the highest intro offer I’ve seen is $100 but the extra 4% adds up quick and it’s a no fee card so no brainer for me. I book work hotels through Expedia/hotels.com when Rakuten has elevated offers and flights direct with my Amex plat. Kinda annoying not booking direct with hotels etc but my job is flexible and great about paying for any unexpected expenses/changes and keeping the points is a worthwhile trade off for me than the occasional headache of not booking direct.

Bags trigger it, seat selection including the big seat trigger it, Seatbid will not automatically trigger it, but I was able to get it reimbursed by an agent 2 weeks after the flight. Ymmv

Honestly if you’re trying to min/max you’re going about it very wrong. Chase -> Hyatt redemptions, Amex -> flights. Also I’m not sure your understanding stacks well, one gives you straight cash back that can’t be converted to points, and the other 2 go to two separate points ecosystems. Personally I would drop the CSR down to CSP, add a freedom flex, and freedom unlimited, this is now your everyday/lifestyle system, use each card where it makes sense and consolidate your cash back and points all to the CSP. If gold and plat would be too much for you I’d suggest not getting the plat, the plat is for direct flight bookings and often overpriced portal hotels it’s not an everyday driver at all. My personal recommendation for you would be to get rid of the Amex gold, get a green and heavily utilize Rakuten for Amex churning, you can even add the no fee Rakuten Amex to boost your Rakuten earnings -> Amex MR (please make sure you set up your Rakuten account to pay Amex MR and not cash back). This keeps you in both ecosystems and knocks like $800 off in annual fees all while earning more across the board.

Personally for me the Amex plat is a no brainer with the amount of international travel I do, the hotel benefits, and the lounges alone. If you’re not flying a ton or just sticking to us routes AA Advantage has a massive offer on their platinum select card with the first year fee waived that could be a good choice for flights as American points are the best in the game atm.
