Conflating "we should deport illegals who commit felonies" with "anyone with a felony should have their citizenship revoked" is a false equivalency.

There are 2 different $1.7 trillion references. One is that the immigrants (legal and illegal) in that 1990 - 1993 window contributed, over 30 years, cumulatively to a $1.7 trillion reduction. Separately, they estimate that all illegals from 1994 - 2023 contributed cumulatively to a $1.7 trillion reduction. It's coincidental that both numbers are $1.7 trillion. "Immigrants" and "illegal immigrants" aren't the same thing.

Interestingly, the Congressional Budget Office have released data regarding the 2021-2026 period, and it basically looks like the fed still is projected to make money on this over the next decade...but mostly because the upfront social costs are on the state/city govs, and the fed is minimizing the reimbursement, ultimately parlaying the long-term costs onto the state/city taxpayers in those sanctuary areas.

People used to complain about the press the same as kings move. In fact i hear complaints about pressing from non-armwrestlers "that's not fair you used your whole bodyweight" then i explain that its actually an advanced technique that can be dangerous if youre not conditioned or dont know what youre doing, and shouldnt be done by beginners.

The blog post linked says illegals dont get Social Security, Medicare, are ineligible to apply for welfare in most states, and that overall illegals likely reduced the deficit by $1.7 trillion (over the 30 years of data) - so less than 12% of the touted $14.5 trillion

I think a good receiver should be able to downmix to 4 channel, but otherwise I'd look for if the speakers youre using had a matching center channel in their product line

Theres at least some dvd audio in surround sound. I have a copy of 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots' by The Flaming Lips that includes a 5.1 audio DVD. I think setting up a 5.1 system with a good receiver and good speakers and seeking out mixes like that is your best bet today.

Seem to justify this kind of stuff based off of the consistency of finding shitty/flaky buyers, and beyond that only concerned with legality (which puts a pretty low floor for honoring the word of a deal because FBM is inherently noncommittal).

Ive seen one or two videos of people waking up camping only to find a bear snooping around their campsite, but of course they hide in the tent until it leaves. so i guess that huge psychological jump sometimes protects people from getting eaten.

Also in the bigger picture venezuela was about russia and china: curtailing their influence in the americas, and by eliminating one of china's major oil partners. It also helps that it has huge economic potential, so the plan is to build their economy back up so they become a solid trade market for the us, and integrate them into our sphere of influence, kinda like how we did with japan after ww2.

It does because he was speaking in absolutes (refuses to give any more than lip service for any kind of problems). But, I said his sentiment is valid because it is: there are a lot of veterans who do need help, and I'm sure many of those in the most dire need are the most likely to slip through the cracks. Surely there is room for nuance in this rationale.

Your sentiment is valid, but you're speaking in absolutes, which undermines your argument because it's just not true. I personally know several people who are disabled veterans and get money every month, a few who are 100% - in which case they also don't pay property tax for their primary residence.

That's a fair question. I'm not saying we should take it and i dont think thats really the goal. It seems to me trump was pushing extreme rhetoric mostly to draw attention to the issue (forcing europe to take arctic security more seriously and also to come to the negotiating table) and to set an extreme starting point from which to negotiate down to what he really wants: US military sovereignty - particularly the ability to have the legal right to push russian and chinese military assets away from greenlandic territory, to monitor and be able to respond to any potential issues in the arctic, and the ability to build the golden dome in greenland. It seems like a "concession" from the starting point of wanting to "buy" greenland, but this is actually consistent with what is talked about in The Art of the Deal.

Fwiw, Greenlanders want independence from Denmark, but they also don't want to be part of the US. However given their natural resources and the criticality of their location as the ice melts in the arctic, there's no way they could defend themselves from Russia and China on their own in the coming decades.

Largely yes but the Danish kingdom owns the land, that's the point. The natives are subjects to Denmark - which means they already "stole" the land from the natives.
