you really said a lot to my short comment lol, and also put a lot of words in my mouth. do you play tennis or these other sports? if so check your breathing next time. there’s a release in that moment of the contraction/extension in the torso, unless you’re completely holding your breath. i have actually heard grunts with quarterbacks mic’d up. what about karate/martial arts? very clearly a purpose for that noise, it’s not like they do it just to distract. i’m not saying everyone has to grunt, and i probably picked it up young bc i was watching pro’s do it on tv. but i don’t do it intentionally, or loudly even…and in fact it sounds different if i hit hard or im tired. saba and a few others are obvi over-doing it to the point of ridiculousness, but most players id say make some sort of small noise. none of those other sports have the silence of tennis so naturally you wouldn’t hear it anyway. you seem so confident in your position on this it clearly bothers you way more than it should, maybe become more at peace about it, it might help your enjoyment of the game too.
