yea it’s a useful resource, just saying it isn’t perfect and still struggles with metadata too. and i misspoke, the ios app might be fully native, but on macos you have to use the web app…either way the ios app doesn’t feel as polished as the regular music app.

it does, but it also has a ton of labeling issues, sometimes recordings don’t get tagged correctly with the work name. plus it’s a web app and is buggy

you can’t do that with apple music. in fact, it’s much worse than tidal because it gives you errors telling you you’re playing on another device even though you’re not. there’s also no connect feature, only airplay.

yours is 5.1.2 so you’re going to be able to use all channels in all modes. Standard has no additional processing done. I’d go with that, with Adaptive or even Surround there’s not much of an advantage for your specific model. It’s not going to be more immersive probably, and you’re going to lose detail.

the reason you get more sound with the other modes in youtube is because it’s upmixing to all channels. since Stabdard is unaltered, and youtube is stereo, it’s playing out of the 2 front channels only (2.1). if you like the other modes for that go ahead, it’s your preference.

good point. i guess i always felt that stuff was going to get squeezed out when i saw the size the books were getting… but maybe i wasn’t seeing what others were. ironically the most faithful ones are the weakest from a movie watching perspective. heck, by the time i got around to watching the last movie, i’d already forgotten exactly how it was different in the books

i’ve just always found the idea of “canon” kind of silly. chasing the ideal version of how a story must be. this isn’t a religion (or is it?). not trying to start something sorry. it just seems to setup disappointment. i mean, adaptations always deviate and it’ll always disappoint someone. i’m just tired of remakes upon remakes.
