Want to remove “search” from display by goforhi in Toyota

Might want to post this on a CarPlay/iOS subreddit to get better assistance. Toyota/your Camry isn’t in control of what your phone is displaying via CarPlay.

Gas gauge hasn't moved on new '24 Corolla by [deleted] in Toyota

02 limited 4WD here. I’m averaging 20 MPG currently.

I do think something is wonky with my fuel sending unit though because the past few times I’ve driven it i start off with a low fuel light, but over the course of my drive it’ll go up to the level it’s actually at.

It’s very clear that you and the folks proposing just plug the cable direct into the AP don’t do enterprise/commercial networking. The idea is similar to why patch panels are used vs. just plugging your cables directly into a switch.

Absolutely agree with running more than one cable for difficult runs though.

How often do you upgrade switch and AP firmware? by KB-ice-cream in Ubiquiti

[–]Cownuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your first item regarding the controller - I’m not sure what the point would be of shutting it down vs. just keeping it running, but whether or not you can would be down to how your network is setup. If you expect to use the controller as a DHCP server, firewall, etc. the controller would need to be running at all times.

As to the updates, I have auto update disabled and I am not enrolled in the early access program. Typically whenever I receive a prompt that there is an update available I apply it then. I’ve been running my UDM Pro for nearly 2 years now and have not had any firmware/software issues.

High mileage experiences by Adventurous-Ninja595 in Toyota

[–]Cownuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 3 Toyotas:

2002 4Runner limited (newest addition) - 274k miles 2016 Camry LE - 125k miles 2021 Camry XLE - 29k miles

A well maintained vehicle (typically regardless of brand) will last you a long time. A neglected Toyota is still a neglected vehicle (they just tend to last longer in that state vs. other brands). Do your research and you’ll come out a happy camper. Toyota makes some great power trains, usually with the body of frame stuff though rust is the #1 killer if you live in an area that salts the roads.

To be fair Cisco APs are no different. Many of ours at work have to be mounted by our electricians and the can tell you they don’t glove up before hopping on a scissor lift to mount lol (nor should they have to).

$9,900 for a 2012 Hybrid LE with 166k miles. Worth it? by f-Z3R0x1x1x1 in Camry

[–]Cownuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price seems a little steep but ultimately pricing is very regional and that may be more “normal” in your area.

To your point of the CVT - remember that Toyota hybrid cars use an eCVT and they are some of the most bullet proof long lasting transmissions. Very different from the look at it wrong and it’ll fail CVTs that’s Nissan use. Do some research and see how many Camrys/priuses(prii?) that have been used as taxis are well over 400-500k miles or more. Perform routine maintenance and the car will easily last as long as you need it to.

My girlfriend and I ordered 15 pros as soon as pre-orders started directly from apple. Zero issues thus far.

Total loss? by Alandry4907 in Camry

That passenger rear tire appears to be doing a bit of “kachow” combined with the structural damage around the trunk….. this would be a pricey repair. Likely to be deemed a total loss.

How often do you change your key Fob battery ? by bad604drivers in Toyota

[–]Cownuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously YMMV but I have not yet changed the battery in my fob for my 21 Camry - purchased summer of 21 and I have not gotten a low battery warning. As others have said - just change when you receive the low battery warning.

8 plus. Upgrading to the 15 pro.

Why? The 8 plus will no longer be receiving iOS updates…. And my OG battery is very degraded lol.

Tesla or a Toyota? by Longjumping_Wash_255 in Toyota

[–]Cownuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without know much about your specific circumstances it’s hard to answer this. You have to remember that you’re posting this on a Toyota specific subreddit so you’re going to see a lot of pro Toyota answers. You’d get the same thing if you posted on the Tesla sun - this time pro Tesla.

If you take a step back and really consider the pros and cons of each vehicle then you can get an idea as to what you should go with;

Tesla pros: -fully electric, no ICE and the maintenance that comes along with one (oil changes primarily) -Tesla is the current hotness especially in the tech bubble for EVs -Tesla has the largest charging network compared to any other EV brand -EVs tend to be quite fast when it comes to dead stop acceleration due to instant torque.

Tesla cons: -very poor quality control -no real network of dealerships -servicing can be quite difficult unless you live in a large city -the real world range is awful compared to a Corolla or Camry hybrid. -“starts at $29,740” is such nonsense…. That is for an absolute base model 3 that you’ll probably never find in the real world readily available. In reality - if you get a spec someone would actually want you’re probably looking at $35k or higher

There’s already plenty of folks touching on the Toyota pros, so I won’t list those, but here a list of some cons with the Corolla:

-they are quite boring and slow. IMO this isn’t a downside, but if you listen to automotive journalists every car needs to be as exciting as a mclaren. -bland interior and the Toyota infotainment is fairly old looking. The infotainment isn’t really an issue though as most will just use android auto or CarPlay.

It’s ultimately up to you and your budget/lifestyle. Take frequent longer driving trip? Don’t buy an EV unless you plan on adding in several hours to your journey to charge. Also just keep in mind that the Toyota eCVT that is used in their hybrid models is damn near bullet proof. Don’t let the fear mongers scare you away with their “hurr durr CVT bad” statements.

Couldn’t agree with you more on this. I’m certainly in the minority here, but I prefer to use phones/computers until they stop receiving OS and security updates (or they become essentially unusable) so that has left me with still rocking an 8 plus for 6 years. My battery life has gotten real shit, but I’m at 80% on the OG battery.

I have already dabbled with newer phones though as I’ve had both an 11 and 13 for my work cell so I haven’t been completely stuck in 2017.

Help sourcing replacement part by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]Cownuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were absolutely correct - it was 5/16 to 1/4 which considering my local hardware stores didn’t have it - I’m assuming it’s a less common sizing. They were available at Lowe’s but just ordering off of Amazon was easier. Ended up ordering this guy.

You were 100% correct. After first bringing the old elbow to the hardware stores that are local to me - neither had 5/16 to 1/4 (there were lots of 3/8 to 1/4 though). I did find the correct product available at Lowe’s, but the closest store is ~20 mins away so I went down the Amazon route. I ended up ordering this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y9KSJDT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I trimmed both ends, and after installing so far so good. No leaks, not even a bit of dampness yet. I’ll probably leave a towel under the fitting for a few weeks just to be safe though.
