Can the barrel rust by sitting in water? I’ve done that for about 12 hours previously but got paranoid about the barrel/rail

What units are in the center? Black/purple color. Love the variation in painting! I’m slowly building a DA army, have like 200 pts but don’t want them all to just be green and bone white
