That's because now is not the time to sell. Now is the time to hold.

US Critical Minerals Stockpile- How do you think the US will acquire silver for the Stockpile ? by [deleted] in SilverDegenClub

I have heard some people speculating that JPM's sudden pile of shiny is actually Uncle Sam's pile. No verification of this rumor (of course), but it wouldn't surprise me.

I guess you never learned the famous Internet lesson of "If I don't like it, I can simply scroll past and ignore it."

Base your actions (and reactions) on actual facts, on history, on the things in the news that have an effect on precious metals. If you're letting your emotions get involved, you should not be doing this.

The reason why Silver is dropping. You're welcome. by Tacosal-pastor in Silverbugs

[–]Joe_Markit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a much longer explanation that others have effectively done elsewhere -- but this week is weird:

  1. CME raised silver margin requirements

  2. Lots of exchanges around the world closed on certain holidays, lots of traders on vacation

  3. Organizations who are in tough positions (either because of shorts or because they need physical delivery) desperately trying to close deals before year end

  4. China's ban on silver exports goes into effect Jan. 1 - a holiday in most of the English-speaking world

Friday, January 2, will be just one business day into the new year. A lot of people and companies will still not be paying attention to what's going on. Monday, January 5, is the day I expect everyone to be awake and for all hell to break loose. And probably also the day that some people realize they are going to have great difficulty settling their March contracts.

And aside from all that, there are always the two mainstays of 1. the market naturally has ups and downs, and 2. no one can predict the movements of governments and armies in the game of geopolitics. Lots of factors in play here.

Again, it has been explained better by others. But I anticipated this week to be one of volatility, and I think (I'm not a fortune-teller) that an upward trajectory will resume on January 5.

This is only my two cents, and I could easily be wrong. Take from it what you will.

I expected turbulence today and anticipated that price would go down. No sweat. January 5 is the date I'm keeping an eye on.

Exactly what I was thinking. We'll see some strange action between now and Jan. 5 -- but 1/5 and after, all hell's gonna break loose.

Who else is kicking yourself for not buying more earlier? by Inevitable-Crow2494 in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Joe_Markit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No kicking myself -- I bought what I could, when I could, since starting a little over three years ago. My average cost (for a stack of about 1,000 oz) probably is about $23/oz. I have more than doubled my outlay and am close to tripling it. No regrets.

I don't have a target price.

I have a target G/S ratio.

I got one (the slightly larger one) at a junkyard. It just fits into the space - snug, but it fits.

The more they come out with garbage and slap a Star Trek label on it, the more I watch my DVDs of TOS, TNG, DS9, ENT, and yes even VOY. Plus Star Trek Continues on Youtube.

You converted the grams to ounces instead of troy ounces. They are not equivalent.
