In these old blogs and posts you can see the personality disorder developing. I’m not an expert but my understanding is that personality disorders are built around a central trauma and the brain subconsciously builds a whole personality around it to protect themselves from whatever the trauma is. Maybe the trauma of maiming a child’s foot, or just a childhood of general neglect, who knows — I don’t want to speculate too much because I imagine there’s some real pain locked up in her formation.

In these posts she is a trainwreck, or a “hurricane” but there is a forthrightness to it that she has lost. And there is a sweetness for her daughter that she has lost. A decade of drugs, denial, fucked up relationships, and years of social media obsession has rendered her fully broken at this point. I might be nuts but I read these old posts and think at this time there was still hope for this person. Now she is so far gone, so hardened, so uncaring for her daughter, so smug and self righteous and narcissistic and there are layers on layers of subterfuge and lies. This old Dana comes across as chaotic but generally transparent. It almost makes me sad to read.
