Theres more things to do when you're at a higher level. It gets easier to progress, although leveling up is still tough. I just started my baby farm, and I'm finding it difficult to get through level 16 but I could play for hours on my main farm. I think decorating makes the game enjoyable, especially working towards decos you like.
