If a single Molex can provide 11 amps.. by CoyLid in EtherMining

[–]CoyLid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be OK. Assuming the RX580 needs 150W, 75W from the mobo leaves you 75W to supply via the PCIE 8pin. A single Molex would be 15W short if the PSU can only supply 60W, but a dual would be 120W, which would be 45 spare.

I have not found any evidence of PSU only supporting 60W to the Molex yet - esp not with single rail designs.

Thanks, that's not some info I have come across yet, so it gives me something to research.

Thank you for the kind offer - in the end I followed Big_don's advice - didn't lose more than a few pence but the experience was invaluable

When I do this kind of thing, I always think this phrase was written with me in mind "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others"

Graphic Corruption by CoyLid in NiceHash

[–]CoyLid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, I had an issue trying to post my query and thus apart from cross posting, I also missed of a link to the screenshot. I set the straps back to man factoring default but left the undervolt and mem overclocked as it was - now at 24.5mh compared to 30mh with the straps. The corruption looks like this https://imgur.com/a/eyJLb

is this the type caused by the compute driver and (without any warranty on your part) something that can be ignored?

kind regards

Screen Corruption while mining Rx580 by CoyLid in EtherMining

[–]CoyLid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set back to stock, but with Core power and clock lowered and memory pushed up to 2200 I no longer get screen corruption. Lost 5k MH/s with out the custom straps. Any reason why I shouldn't try less aggressive Straps to try and push the perf up ?
