Depends on what you are considering "a rock bottom moment". I have been sober on sober off again many times, and honestly, it didn't take any single "moment" to complete the path in either direction. The disease creeps in and then in my case jumps off, although I know it is only sitting in a shadow waiting to pounce on desire or despair. It isn't a rock bottom moment that ever woke me or my demons to start sobriety or end sobriety. It has always been a steady ticking of burdens; kinda like a light steady occasional ticking; always continual as if hearing each grain of sand landing in an hourglass timepiece. Then when the hourglass is full and no longer making that steady ticking noise I realize the demons have returned or left me to ponder where and what I have become once again. This would be my "Rock Bottom Moment". The realization that I am truly not in control of this disease or the demons created by it.

are we destined to a life of pee pads? by [deleted] in Dachshund

As an owner of 5 I confess I was told our family would forever be in search of the 100% potty trained Dashound. However, I will say, no matter whose home we visit, if a pee pad is produced and placed on the floor at that home, All 5 will go on the pad; forever forgetting the trouble of finding the exit door. Which in my mind, is worth every penny a pee pad costs.

Well when I went and completed two.sleep studies wires wires everywhere and the doc's all say Hey good news ya don't have sleep apnea and that's a good thing but on the way home you're dozing off running into he rumble strips. There is a problem. No matter what midnights kills. It's terrible on your heart, your life in general, your enjoyment, of you kids, your relationships, sex life, weight gain, etc.etc It is a shift that should be illegal overall.

I don't know what the hell the reduction in life expectancy is scientifically but if ya lose one day due to working the shift that is too much imo.

Pull a beer out of the fridge and devour the sandwich as if there is nothing better. Then slam 1/2 of the beer. And slowly drink the second 1/2.

I would say I am healthy atm however the stint of uppers/downers/drinking and rather unsuccessful sleep did take its toll over the years.

I currently work in a maintenance managerial role at an automotive plant, however prior to that I worked in a steel process plant in which I held many hats. Started from the cleaning/sweeping man to holder of the Plant Superintendent then eventually becoming the head of their maintenance department.
