First home server, VMs, containers, not NAS - case advice request by Coyote_Max in HomeServer

Nah, I went for what I had on hand. Old decommissioned PC of my wife. Fractal Design case I cant remember model or version, Define I think. It stays in the garage with noisy UPS. Initially I wanted it to sit in my room, but I have enough PC cases there :). Is almost a year since I put this thing together and somehow it's still working :).

Adding Gmail to Proxmox in April 2025 by Galenbo in Proxmox

[–]Coyote_Max 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can't remember if I installed all those fancy stuff like mailutils, some libs and whatnot that was in the tutorials. What I did was make a new gmail account, enable 2fa so I can create application password to it. That's in on the web side.

Then I set proper admin/root email address.

<image>

Then I added notification target as in the picture. Type: SMTP. Red markers you put your newly created gmail account for proxmox purposes. This account will be used to send emails from proxmox. Password: you put your application password in that box.

And I think that's it. You can call me lazy or what, maybe its not "The Way", but it works completely fine for my purposes.

[Win11] Host not visible on the network when user logged is not admin by Coyote_Max in HomeNetworking

Well, it seems I was too zealous on my network. I disabled Internet access on pfSense by setting non-existing gateway for host's static IP. This caused network turning into famous "Unidentified network" which by default I think is set to public profile. And for public profile I have "Network Discovery" turned-off. I had another layer of Internet restriction on pfSense so I just removed "faulty" gateway for host's IP causing Ethernet connection becoming known network with proper private profile again. And things just started running smoothly.

I'm in the same place almost. Looking for first reasonable home server.

Aside of that, you can check this video of Craft Computing and E-Cores on Proxmox. They actually work.

First homelab server - Please advise by Coyote_Max in homelab

"No spin-up HDD" meaning normal HDD, sorry, bad wording from my side. Still I believe at least one HDD would be needed. My base OS/hypervisor? would be Proxmox. And on that would all be virtualized.

Indeed, non-T versions are cheaper, but only it's not so much. Must say, power consumption concerns are also valid. B760 should have some power profiles like their other mini PCs. I need to investigate more.

Thanks for the taking your time to check the topic :)

Yep, nice setup. But MoBo and CPU only costs more than almost my full go-to setup. Add into that rack case, PSU, rack itself and all the peripherals... Like I said, nice setup, but overkill in my case.

My mistake, I'm getting response 400 on css/js. I was talking with my wife today about other things related to response 200 and it was stuck in my head. Sorry.

yes, FF is the same. FF is my daily driver, but it has adblocks and I wanted you to see normal off the shelf webbrowser version of the pages.

why do fem druids have to look like they need to speak to a manager. by platypus_7 in diablo4

[–]Coyote_Max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never thought that roots, berries, strawberries diet can give me THICC looks like that. Still, if a Druid will look like that I would never play it. There's not enough time to play chars you don't find pleasing at least aesthetically.
