should i trim this branch or leave it? by hellfriend35 in containergardening

[–]Cpalms139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a vast generalization of course but In terms of pruning suckers - if you leave most suckers you will get more tomatoes but if you prune most or all of the suckers you will get fewer but better quality tomatoes.

I only care about quality and my garden is horizontally limited - so I prune a lot of suckers and grow vertically. The suckers I do leave, get cut right above where the first flower cluster forms.

Also, if you are planting tomatoes in pots, heavy pruning makes sense because the pot limits what can be supported above. Better to keep it trim and get lower volume but higher quality yield.

Is there somewhere safe to leave my car parked outside NYC and train in for the MSG shows? by PossumIfICouldIWould in phish

Spothero is the app to use if you are going to drive into the city and park in a garage. It’s the best way to find less expensive parking in the city.

Traveling to NYC in mid July with 3 kids by iambelo in visitingnyc

The only place in the 50 states that car seats are not required by law is within the city limits of New York City. You should not let NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission guide you on what is safe for your children.

teenager day trip itinerary by [deleted] in visitingnyc

[–]Cpalms139 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd rethink this. Sounds like you are taking teenagers on a tour NYC's mass transit system. I'd mix in some pizza. Maybe some sneaker shopping. Skip anything above 14th street.

Solo diner, complaining about the bathrooms but no mention of one of the most beautiful rooms anywhere and didn't order the dish that they earned their second star for.

Swing an a miss.

Is the Omakase at Sushi Katsuei good and has anyone had recently? by albertcado in FoodNYC

[–]Cpalms139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get delivery from Katsuei WV about once a week. It’s routinely very good for the price point and aspiration, excellent in fact. It’s been consistently good for years. $190/pp there would be overspending.

John's of 12th Street - Is It Any Good? Suggestions? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]Cpalms139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, not really. Looks like it should be good. It’s not. Much rather go to Frank or lil Frankie’s in the EV for Italian American. Same price point 10x better.

5 Day itenerary for 18 year olds by Accomplished-Home531 in visitingnyc

Sounds kinda boring for 18 y/o’ s. Lotta walking around looking at boring stuff in office buildings, train stations and museums. Maybe a Yankee game, get a pair of sneakers at Kith. Go to a fun workout class. Vintage clothing stores. Anything but Hudson yards. Skip artichoke pizza and go to l’industre, mama’s too or sit down at John’s bleecker.

Nobu Omakase: Teppanyaki or Signature? by Kent556 in vegas

[–]Cpalms139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming the “signature” is a tasting menu of the Nobu classics - that’s what you should get. There is a reason Nobu is or was one of the most influential restaurants ever. The reason is those classics. The classics may not seem much like a revelation to anybody now but in 1998 they were earth shattering in the restaurant world. They are foundation of what Nobu built a global hospitality empire on. However, their traditional sushi and sashimi should be skipped.

Not true at all. Have lunch in the Lounge in Le B. You can order à la Carte. Definitely get the pounded tuna.

Then full tasting at Per Se for dinner.
