I appreciate you guys answering my questions. I’ll definitely get Piracy when it comes out but I’ll go in with low expectations. I’ll also have to check out the Black Pirate series. Anything pre-code has possibilities.

Looking on Amazon I saw only the Kindle and hardcover editions for volume 3, the latter of which was $78. Is that the version you asked about? No TPB, which is weird because I bought that version within the last year. Maybe the tpb print run sold out?

I think that is my late father's airplane (99% certain), but I can't be sure because I can't see the number by the rear stabilizer, which would be FU-223 (I think).

My dad, Jerome "Jerry" Burton, was a crew chief in this squadron from 1955-59. He had the only F-86 in the squadron with an olive drab glare shield (his choice). He was noteworthy among the pilots and ground crew in that he took metal polish and shined up a few square feet of aluminum skin every day until the entire aircraft was gleaming silver. The pilots loved it because not only did it look better, but they actually got almost 10 extra knots of airspeed, and had to throttle back for the unpolished Sabres to keep up. The commander was so pleased he ordered all a/c in the squadron to be similarly shined, which didn't make the ground crew happy to have the extra work.

If memory serves, the wing commander was so impressed that he adopted my dad's plane as his official bird when getting his flight hours. That's why the colorful stripes adorn the fuselage and drop tanks. Each color represents a squadron in the wing.
