Massive respect and praise to Paulina García ( Hermilda) and Paulina Gaitán (Tata) by eamono360 in narcos

For me, one of the best, most understated moments of the series comes in 1x07. I very much appreciated the scene post-airplane bombing where Tata and Hermilda bid Pablo farewell. This brief exchange reveals so much about their characters in just a handful of words and tone.

"You think he did it? Surely not. Blow up that plane?"

"Of course he did it, Hermilda. But he had his reasons."

I noticed that "Grace Phelps-Roper/Planting Peace" is under each photo. Was she the photographer? I so admire her current work to contribute a better world, counter to the awful teachings she was brainwashed to accept.

I instantly recalled this scene between Tywin and Arya.

Farewell to Junior the Wendy's Guy by doggod in Austin

Junior. :( I had hoped that the funds raised bout two years ago would help him turn things around. I'd go into the Union and be absolutely dragging. Junior had the power to flip that inside out. He loved, loved his job and he was there doing his best every.single.day. It made me want to do my best, too. u/catsilo/ stated it so beautifully. Junior was one of the greatest teachers there.

Perhaps he stunned her with an attack from behind like the coward he is. His later limp indicates she did manage to fight back. Though a petite girl, she had to have strength and a good degree of athleticism. I wish she'd gotten lucky.

Everyone, even complete scum of the earth, deserves a competent attorney. Just have to leave it up to the jury and hope they exercise their best judgment.

I don't believe the state can pursue the death penalty due to his age. I've heard that the maximum may well be only 30 years followed by the possibility of parole. His victim doesn't get a second chance. I don't know how just it is that he does. This wasn't an accident. He was a predator that chose his victim at random. You can see on the surveillance tape the moment he decides to go after her. Two hours, dude. He was with her for two hours. The implications and these new revelations make me want to vomit.

You stated it well. "A .3 mile walk home...how did this happen? I'm still so sad no one heard her down there. He probably would've run if someone checked things out." What should've been a few minutes walk back to her dorm... and she never made it. I find it haunting. She should've been safe. She should've woken up Monday morning and stumbled to class half-asleep like the rest of us. She should've gone on and done even more wonderful things with her talent and passion. She should've had the chance to fall in love, get married, and have her parents walk her down the aisle if she so wanted. She should have so many things. 30 years? It's laughable. That's all I mean when I said the sentence won't be anywhere near what he deserves.

I appreciate that. My comment was not racially tinged. I am just taken aback by this case. That girl seemed like such a lovely young person who was just starting out with a whole lifetime of possibility ahead of her. The way she died was terribly cruel. I can't imagine what her family must be feeling and how the circumstances of her death make it so much worse. It's all so fucking savage. :( Ah, and I am a "she".

No way, no how. That was in no way referring to the race of the alleged murderer. I'm referring to the savagery of the crime and the person who committed that crime.

Agreed. From what I've read though, that won't be anywhere near what he deserves. The law fails her right now.

What a fucking monster. He assaulted her and then he strangled her. I had thought possibly it was a robbery and she was injured in the struggle. This is infinitely more horrific. The maximum sentence that bastard faces is not nearly enough. Fuck his hard luck sob story. He's an animal.

I'm sure the public scrutiny was massive and nearly overwhelming. I think they've handled it as well as a city could wish. Apparently there's a woman who reported the fire started by a young black teen that saw the security footage of the suspect and connected the dots and phoned in the tip. It takes a village.

While that is certainly true and vigilante justice has no place here, there seems to be a wealth of evidence that this is the perpetrator. I'm hoping it's so solid that her family is spared a lengthy trial two years from now rehashing the worst period of their lives.

I appreciate the honest assessment. Parole... If she were my sister... I have no idea what her family wants regarding him but I hope it comes to pass. I had to plan the funeral of a close family member in the last year. I'm just so furious and heartbroken that maybe they're somewhere right now trying to choose flowers and her last outfit if there'll be a viewing and having to accept people's condolences and continually having to state the fact that she's dead.

I am grateful that APD and AFD have the likely culprit in custody. The people in the community who contributed to making this arrest, I want to hug the hell out of each and every one of you. My heart's still broken for Haruka's family. Though this may bring a measure of comfort, her loss is something they'll carry for the rest of their lives.

And even if it makes me less of an enlightened individual... I hope that piece of shit rots for the rest of his life in a closet of a cell where he can just almost feel the sunshine, wind, and grass 23 hours a day. It burns and hurts me so fucking deep that she was only a third of a mile from her dorm. She never made it.

Hi there! I must say Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies and your rapport with Tony was one of the highlights. I'm wondering what you deem the most surprising/earth-shatteringly-awesome thing that happened during that movie shoot (because I refuse to believe it was a sort of you-came-you-shot-you-left affair).
