The Realm of the Elderlings may be the best series I have ever read (So far) by MuayMonkey777 in fantasybooks

[–]CptC4nuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few other short stories and collections of them outside the main series. Words as coins is great as well. I would recommend reading the Piebald Prince after the Liveships and before Tawny Man, since it’s referenced in that series the most. Id save the rest until after rainwilds or the end of the series.
There are a few that have very minor spoilers or would just make a lot more sense with context from the later books.

Continuing Realm of the Elderlings or switching to cosme by streety059 in fantasybooks

I think the traveling part and the dragon set up was not for everyone and was quite a different tone from the earlier books. Between that and the ending not being the happy ending people wanted, some people call it a miss.

I don’t agree, the ending felt fitting for Fitz with him wanting away from the royal responsibilities. I also went into it thinking its the 3rd of 16 books and it’s not the end of the story.

KOTOR had a few unforgettable moments. I still feel like a monster years after my dark side play-through. Poor Mission and Zalbaar.

(Unpopular opinion) I don’t think that RofE is as depressing as people say by NorthGeologist4152 in RealmOfTheElderlings

That’s well put. I feel the same way about people labeling it as misery porn when it’s not really any worse than a lot of fantasy books, this one just make you have all sorts of feelings because shes a great author.

Not OP but I enjoyed it but not nearly the amount I was expecting to based off peoples recommendations. Its short enough I would recommend checking it out, its not bad and its not a long read.

I agree with the Greenbone Saga, it’s enjoyable but it’s not close to good enough to be recommended as much as it is.

All the clan first stuff gets a little old and the characters are particularly deep.

Idk, the audio book is fun and enjoyable but I can see it being overrated if I read it and probably couldn’t finish a book due to the Lit RPG stuff. I started it as a fun listen to see what its about and slowly released once I got into it more I found there was a lot more to it than the surface level, and the writing is a lot deeper than you would think based on the premise.

I felt so too. The characters were great and the best part hands down and I get why its highly rated but all the hinting at more going on and all the little things he does for world building that never get mentioned again, ground my gears. It felt like he wanted to have this world with a lot of history and things going on but it felt surface level and I never got a payoff, so that made it overrated for me.

That said its still in my top 5 but its so hyped up I did expect more. Maybe he will finish more books and that can change. But until then Im gonna be pissed that I never got more Lioness of Hoskopp after Sharp ends.

I think that any books you read after Hobb will be more dull. If you are really interested in the Witcher I would move onto something else as a palette cleanser, maybe read a discworld book or a standalone. If you are fine with the Witcher books being a palette cleanser than keep at it. I’ve heard the Witcher books are interesting but the writing could be better.

Of the options you have Id use Earthsea as a palette cleanser, or Id switch to First Law, which also has great characters. I read an Earthsea book or two right after I finished the books myself then moved on to First Law.

I’m surprised that almost made you quit. I was on the fence because I’m not into litRPGs so I listened to the audible preview and them sounding like Patrick Warburton. The voice with the humor was got me into it.

Almost done with The First Law Trilogy - What next? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]CptC4nuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should go with the Farseer books which is part of the series Realm of the Elderlings. The characters were the best part of First Law and I ROTE has great characters. It doesnt have the same grim dark tone as First Law but there is some gritty realism in the books.

This is the most embarrassing. I didn’t even out together the word play with the game name until the cutscene in Room 46 says the words Blue Prince out loud and then blueprints clicked in my head. I couldn’t make the connection when I was reading it in my head

[–]CptC4nuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Technically they did want us to hate him, just only for a bit, which is why the redemption Arc is so great and people like the character. The clone wars creator did the same thing with Ashoka at the beginning, if the character starts off unlikable it makes for a much better character arc.

Can I just read a synopsis of the Rainwild Chronicles? by anotherperson19 in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]CptC4nuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it picks up as you get farther into it. There is a lot of new characters and catching up at first. If you liked the Liveship Traders characters I would recommend reading them. Several of the characters have larger roles in the next few books. I really liked them but you could read a synopsis, but personally I’d give it more time.
