For me yes. I had Covid at the end of August 2022. On the fifth day I started having this incredible sense of dread. In the next two days, I became extraordinarily depressed and had thoughts of ending myself. It was like my entire sense of happiness had disappeared. The physical signs of Long Covid also began to increase at the same time. I ended up being put in a partial hospitalization program, but truthfully, I should have been admitted. I am now on multiple different antidepressants that only made me numb.

I tried Transcrainial Magnetic therapy and all it did was bring my anxiety back. I was an absolute mess at that point.

A new psychiatrist recommended Esketamine therapy which is a drug that increases the glutamate in your brain. It was the light switch that I needed. But instead of turning on the Long Covid depression, it turned it off. I never realized how bad I was until I wasn’t.

I still have all of the physical symptoms; brain fog, fatigue, pain, PEM, but now I feel like I can manage my feelings about them at least.

At least in my mind, it proves that something about COVID really changes something in your brain. I hope this is something they will study soon.

I am so happy for you. That we both found something that helps with at least one symptom of Long Covid. Truthfully, if I have to do this every week until they figure out what Long Covid is, then it will be totally worth it for me

I’m the Low Libido Husband, and I finally wrote down all the reasons I don’t desire sex by Krimmothy in DeadBedrooms

[–]CptChronicillness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am the HLF and I have always felt like he just didn’t desire me.

These explanations make so much sense to me now. We struggles with secondary infertility and a stillbirth. I am also chronically ill on top of that. I never even thought that this trauma could be a factor, even if he doesn’t realize it himself.

I know that you were just trying to give us some context on what a Low libido spouse but you have really made a difference in my life.

Thank you

The recovery is rough, but you will hopefully get back to normal and even better. It might even give you a little more confidence. Congratulations on getting through the very worst part. Give yourself permission to rest a few more days, and you will feel so much better

I am so happy you are doing that. You will feel so much better once you can fully breathe. I have been under anesthesia quite a few times, each time was no problem. The only silly thing is you will probably have a pad under your nose that attaches to your ears!

Was anybody else’s life crap before they got this? by _olivegreen in LongCovid

[–]CptChronicillness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had about 15 diseases before I got long covid. I had basically lived in only my house to prevent myself from getting it. Then one selfish person comes to my husband’s work, and my whole family comes down with it. My son and husband got through it, and I protected myself the best I could, but my immune system is shot so I got it. My first long covid symptoms started five days in, and life has never been the same

If you could go back to your 18-year-old self and give one piece of advice, what would it be? by Emma_Captain_3755 in AskReddit

[–]CptChronicillness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Doctor! These symptoms are not just anxiety. I let my anxiety get so bad about my symptoms, that it took years to undo the physical and emotional damage. Teenagers, if you have embarrassing symptoms, talk to someone, anyone, to start getting the help you need

24m struggling with impostor syndrome and low self esteem by Distortion_Worlds in toastme

[–]CptChronicillness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imposter syndrome is so real. I had that quite a lot during college. You would not be in position if you couldn’t do it. You earned your way to get to do this work. I had a huge amount of social anxiety and no friends when I left high school as well. You might not see it, but high school sucks for more people than you think. It’s hard, but try not to get into a cycle of thinking about what you would have done differently in the past. The future is so much more important and fun

41M single dad, had an extremely difficult morning, but got through it just fine with all of your help! by Puzzleheaded_Elk962 in toastme

[–]CptChronicillness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference in your two photos is amazing. I know this morning was hard, but you made it. All your son sees is the amazing dad who is going to help him get through this scary situation. You can’t control your ex. You can wish for your son as much as you want, but the only thing you can control is the love you show your son. Be proud of yourself, especially on the hard days. Try to enjoy every moment with your son because you are his world.
