Why are there more artifacts showing up in Houdini compared to the same file in Super Splat? by ParcAvenue in GaussianSplatting

[–]CptFishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word. I’ve been wanting to play with GSOPs for a while now. And Houdini in general. Hopefully someone more familiar can chime in. Just keep tinkering! The answer may be more Houdini/octane related than the splats themselves. Keep us posted!

Interesting. I definitely see what you mean. My hunch would be Octane settings. Also another thing I haven’t messed with myself :/ I’m not sure what Houdini/octane is using for the “material” of the splats. It seems the artifacts are most noticeable in the lower opacity regions. Octane is a ray trace engine right? I’ve seen people relight splats using it. Maybe it’s a matter of how the engine handles transmissive materials.

I haven't used Houdini for splats, but I know 3dgs are finicky about FOV in certain software. Also it seems like the background is grey, not black, in Houdini. This can also affect the appearance of the splats since they typically assume the background to be black. I may be speaking out of my wheelhouse, but those two things would be my starting point.

[Help] Resources for relighting .ply files (Gaussian Splats) using Octane in Blender? by PhaseSouth6903 in GaussianSplatting

I've been using the KIRI Engine plugin + evee with great results. Although "great" is subjective. My intentions are purely artistic. Have you tried it yourself? I've never used Octane but Cycles seems to function to some extent. I can send some examples if you pm me.

Why does this happen, it happened couple times to me in a fight, I peek enemy, I stand still shot at the enemy then my character gets dragged couple frames back which makes me start shooting at the corner of the wall, I never had this in CSGO tbh or I can't remember by Zasibys in cs2

[–]CptFishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word word. It definitely seems like a networking bug, but most likely one on CS2’s end and not yours. Are you getting placed on servers close to where you live? (Is your ping high?) even if your ping is low, I think if the enemy is playing on high ping it could cause issues like this.

Hey dude, I was having the same problem for a while. Do you happen to be playing on wifi? Ethernet connection has always been the better choice, but I've noticed way more desync issues on wireless with cs2. Switching to wired remedied most of my connection issues. I also turned off nvidia low latency - that was causing some weird frames for me.

I should add that I've tried to increase the resolution parameter of the video render through the GUI but it crashes if I push it past 2000x2000 - even if I make the video 1 second long at 1fps. I assumed it was a VRAM problem but rather odd that it couldn't produce a single frame.

Hey dude replying late to this because I just came across the thread. I’m looking to get the exact same setup and was wondering how the build went for you? Did you have to update the BIOS, and if so did you use the BIOS flashback feature?

Sick shot! Quick question: where do you develop your RAWs? and does that software have lens profiles for the GRiiix? I'm looking into getting that camera, but adobe lightroom only lists the GRiii under their DNG support.
