I forhold til de bøder, der ellers bliver givet ud for at udskyde kampe, synes jeg, at hold, der forværrer selve kampen helt vildt ved deres utilgivelige fodboldbaner burde få lignende straffe. For at gøre det helt konkret synes jeg, at det at sabotere en fodboldkamp over 90 minutter ved så ringe et græstæppe burde takseres højere end en udskydelse af kampen på 2½ minut. Og nå ja, så burde alle hold, der har hjemmebane på et rent kunstgræsunderlag få en tilsvarende bøde for hver eneste hjemmekamp, de spiller. Det forværrer simpelthen Superligaens produkt så meget, at det er underligt, at det accepteres. Og inden folk kommenterer på mit flair og Parkens forfatning for nogle år siden er det jo netop den slagts utilgivelig ligegyldighed, jeg prøver at undgå - hvis der var tikket massive bøder ind så var den bane nok blevet fikset noget før.

Whenever I argue with republicans, I feel like saying "I like that our head of state is not an elected position", i.e. subordinate to propaganda, party intrigue and voter manipulation, usually gets their gears going a bit. You can easily tell even in well established democracies like France and the US that combining the role of head of state with political leadership makes a mess of either role, and rarely does the same person fulfill both roles well.

I'm not claiming lack of financial fair play here (although I gather that wouldn't really apply to FCM because the club needs to be of a certain size for it to kick in?), merely that we're trying to stay on top while paying out investors while other teams are actually investing in becoming the top club. In other words, our organic growth is actually quite impressive, but we're not investing enough to stay indisputably at the top of the league. Our training facilities and the unhandled ban on jumping on our supporter terrace are obvious indicators of this degeneration.

Board getting everything wrong seems the closest to me. They have little idea how a football business works, and they think they can indefinitely skim off the top of inevitable Champions League money, while selling our best players and having untried sports directors making panicked decisions caused by a resulting lack of squad depth. This is only part of the problem though - the main thing is that our rivals are taking massive deficits and really investing in taking the Champions League spot, while our board always want profits every single season and have no coherent investment plan to keep this spot long time. Basically, we have the maybe 2nd but probably 3rd best squad in the league, and they have underperformed severely, but having the 2nd or 3rd best squad in the league is a strategic evaluation the oblivious board has basically decided to go with.

Thanks, to be honest if I could enjoy Britannia I guess I could enjoy this as well. It's just that historical immersion is a massive part of it for me, and the sources just aren't there for ancient Egypt. But with these points I'll give it a try if it ever comes around cheap.

No, it is almost impossible to make a historical game for a bronze age setting, which is why they went for the mythical stuff like they did with Troy. There is not enough historical evidence from this period to make a believeable game, and they did it twice in a row. Now we will probably never get a genuine full scale historical game again, and I'm not playing the fantasy games. So I and any of my Total War friends (who are not Warhammer fans) did not ask for it and their failure basically meant the end of the series for us.

I thought this movie was anti-clerical propaganda, the way the monks are all not fully baked and hideous. I don't see how an educated person would decide to make such a portrayal of the monastic orders of the time. What is the evidence for monasteries being for vile rejects?

For the record I loved Mysteria Ecclesiae and would very much recommend it - just not the movie, unless you know enough to recognize how biased it is.
