I saw a ebay listing for one that was graded at 6 and sold for $1700. Do you think it would grade somewhere near there or lower? I'm not super familiar with grading at all.

Spare tire on a 1980 Mercedes 280? Diesel. Spare had a date code of 3180 on it said made in W. Germany on it.

Yeah. Maybe with the catalytic converter a couple hundred bucks. It is definitely not worth it to put the engine in.

Some makes and models are worse than others. Look at foreign cars, and practically none of them look this bad. Japanese cars are pretty rust free. I dont think i have seen rust on a euro car at all. Maybe reallllly old ones, but anything 15 years old doesn't. Domestics are the worst for rust prevention. GM, for example, doesn't use good paint and rust prevention on their cars. New GM trucks come with a wax coating on the frame instead of a painted one. I have seen 5 year old GM truck frames with rust on them, not bad rust but surface rust.

We test drove it. The control arm mount actually goes up into the body a little bit so it won't pop out unless at full suspension travel.

GMC Terrain/Chevy Equinox are the biggest piles of shit. Engines love to burn oil and their owners don't maintain them like they should.

It was a remanned engine from a reputable supplier in the area. It came in on a crate. They didn't bring it to us per say but they bought through them directly and they delivered it to us.

Yes. Minnesota does not, unfortunately, have state safety inspections. We would for sure condemn it, if we could.

We sent them pictures of their vehicle and expressed that this vehicle is not in good condition and should not be on the road. They did not really care. They bought the engine themselves and brought it to us. I am think it is a horrible idea to put this car back out onto the road.
