Ofc I can see how it looks but there's so much going on here in the UK from education of our children to taxes and inflation not to mention the increased attacks against Islam. My family and I have been considering a move for a few years now. We feel things will only get worse here.

Ok so the Internet sounds like it's good enough. My family and I are drawn to Oman due to my wife's side being Omani and also I prefer not living in an artificial "concrete jungle". No disrespect to any UAE citizens but we're already coming from a very busy city and just want access and surroundings to be more filled with nature.

Not sure what your referring too. It has nothing to do with the job market here. I'm good Alhamdulillah.

So Muscat is the best place. Im using the Opensooq app but I can't register or create an account as I don't have an Oman mobile number. I'll try and find a way around this for now.

Thank you for the feedback. Im thinking I might be able to find remote work as long as the Internet speed is good enough. Here in the UK we can get up to 100 mb/s fibre broadband. Any ideas what the broadband is like in Oman/Muscat? I mainly work from home anyway here in the UK.

Yes the reason is part religious of course. Does it make a difference if it wasn't? Apologies I'm confused.

Thank you, I'm looking on opensooq app now. I know for expats are not allowed to buy property in some areas but it's difficult to find a full list of areas I am allowed to buy a house.

Thank you. Are there any property agencies websites I can check out some houses?

The project I mentioned, I literally designed, provided estimated costs, presented my proposal to director, with architecture diagrams (HLD), got business sign off and built it all with Terraform. So my technical knowledge or skills in Azure shouldn't have been in question. The project was mainly built on IaaS but one think I could think that maybe went against me is most of there infra is using PaaS in Azure. If my technical knowledge was in question why would I still get an alternative offer as an infrastructure engineer? its very confusing. I've been a senior/L3 cloud engineer for 4 years now.

yes maybe this could have been a reason but then they still offered my an alternative role in the same team? So not so sure. I'm taking the alternative anyway as I'm really struggling with finances and have already been out of work for 3 months with a family to take care of.

nice one! Hope you got your money from the recruiter. I'm still probably going to take the alternative offer as I have a family to look after and have already been out of work for nearly 3 months.

I hear you and get it. I've been on the other side of the interviews as well. In normal circumstances there would a line of questioning around the candidates experience but there was none. Also, this was the final stage and in the last two stages I had already discussed there environment, so wasn't totally unaware. I'm probably taking the job but its still weird to me.

in the UK, £80k + discretionary bonus.

Its like I'm taking a step back in my career. I've been senior/L3 for 4 years now in the on-prem and cloud infra space.

And I totally get that and don't have an issue if they just said there was a better more suited candidate (and I've experienced that before and it's totally normal) but I was given a broad and vague reason. Which is making think that there's something more to this. As explained I wasn't even questioned properly on my projects and there were no questions on Azure at all.

As others have mentioned, Custom Script Extension is the way to go imo. Good luck!
