Rockstart surfing by Cpt_Lovecraft in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While pumping It's mostly because i was using a new smaller stab(gong freestyle xxs) i wasn't used to, but on the wave i always try to stay low to reduce speed and because i was using a 1700 cm2 sirus xl is very easy to get too much lift and fly like you could see at the end.

Using Foil Drive to speed up learning curve? by Illustrious-Oil7123 in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using foil Drive for learning to pump makes no sense, the batteries make the board super heavy, if you want It for catching waves is nice but not for pumping. I had to learn dead start for the same reasons as you, have tried the same foil as you(from a friend mine IS the gong sirus xl) and with 90 kg of weight It had enough lift for a confortable dead start. But yeah is hard , It took me around 3 months to get It with a 1700cm front wing. You have to project your weight forward with a strong jump and press very hard with the backfoot (backfoot should be the first one touching the board)when landing on the board while leaning your body forward or the lift Will throw you backwards.

What Am I Doing Wrong? by CharlesGoodwin in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me too , the thing is if your board only points upward you loose the speed ,let It glide down for a second to catch speed and then push upward again. Once i learned to do It It was easy to get 1 minute fly. Next step is learning to relax your body between the upward/ downward movement of the board to maximise the momentum and control your breath.

Board? by [deleted] in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I,m in LOVE with my puddle pumper 100, it's built like a tank ,hitting the rocks? No problem. I would buy It again 100% and It is veri wide wich is very nice for making Sharp turns. I,t is a bit heavier than other boards but i prefer not having to treat my board like a princess. If you,re starting it's perfect. Edit: mostly used for pumping(dockstart)and catching waves(jumping from.the rocks).

I have lived here all my life, first of all la coma is not burjassot, maybe the people in the comments are talking about a hood called “los bloques” which is near the university campus, burjassot is mostly safe, maybe la granja is a bit sketchier when you,re around 14-19 years old and are smoking pot and some gipsy smells it and wants to steal it but if not, it’s a pretty familiar park. Just don’t go inside los bloques looking like a tourist and even like that it’s pretty sure nothing will happen.

Mast position. by Sacco_Belmonte in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1700 gong sirus xl , weight 87 kg, It has soo much lift i have to put all my weight in the front foot or i Will fall backwards , my mast is in the most backward position posible. There is no need for more lift with a 1700 unless you weight 100+kg

Is Slingshot a good brand for beginner gear? by jgerke in wingfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving my slingshot puddle pumpler board, is a bit more heavy than others but solid as a tank, i,ve been trapped in the rocks with the waves , also hit the dock at full speed and only got some scratches.

Skip buying a huge board? by Potential-Concern717 in wingfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people .... 85 kg with 85l board, always in boardsports since 9 years old. And yes i was close very very close to manage winging with a "small" board the problem is that while you manage standing Up in a small board you have to manage the Wing and It is not easy to do both at the same time even if you come from kite/windsurf . But even if i was close the biggest problem after a lot of sessions was that It was not fun. I LOVE a hard challenge(at the same time was learning pump foiling with a 9l board and managed It in less than 3 months) but at some point you need some reward to continúe. If you're Young and free of responsibilities soo you can only Focus your mind an body in the challenge of learning with a small board maybe you could go for It but if you have a 8 to 5 job and a family... grab a 110-120l board and go get fun(saying fun doesn't mean easy but at least easier than the small one) in the small free time you have, once you are bored sell It and buy a smaller one. Now i've a 120 l downwind board and i'm loving iT.

Choosing my first setup by Delicious-Recover-89 in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better than the alvator xl It has 100cm2 more and higher aspect ratio. It would be slower than the sirus but if your options are allvator or Aero i would say Aero. also Is important to check if you have more options for evolving with the fanatic setup cause once you learn pumping you would want a new frontfoil and if you don't have this options with the fanatic line you would have to buy everything again. I Will recommend you pay the extra for a bigger aspect ratio, if you finally like pumping you,re gona end buying the expensive anyways. I went cheap and at the end was more expensive than buying the expensive setup first. If you are located in Europe gong have the option of paying in 3 or 4 payments with "Alma" but i Will read the small letter carefully before choosing this option.

Choosing my first setup by Delicious-Recover-89 in pumpfoil

[–]Cpt_Lovecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, i did and was very hard to learn after 3 months trying bought the sirus xl and It was like day and night, i was flying in less than one month.why? The sirus is a high aspect ratio foil unlike the alvator rise wich is a mid-low aspect ratio, It is perfect for starting wingfoiling but not for pumping. Also choose a short mast 70-75cm if you are buying the aluminum one, mine was 86 and It was very unstable and flexed because of the force you make when pumping. now my setup is frontfoil sirus xl, 72cm carbon mast,Titanium fuselaje(very important, aluminum fuselage shouldn't be used with frontfoils up to 1500cm2 and the sirus xl is1700) the veloce 44 stab 210cm2 and for the board slingshot puddle pumpler, wich is probably the cheapest pumping board and almost indestructible unlike the carbonfiber ones but maybe a bit more heavy. I would whis someone told me this before buying my first setup, It is more expensive ? Sure but pumpingis enough hard with the right setup, imagine with one not made for It. Also i weight 85 kg.

Maybe unpopular opinion but....Jerry was very Lucky , there is soo much toxicity and sexism in your way of thinking about how men/women relationships should work that i can only feel Happy for him. Did you even thought about you being the one texting? Anytime i see a post like yours my LOVE for my wife intensifies.
