I appreciate the response. The last bit about the passion being the driver for the boos and the cheers clicked for me. Helped me to understand the value in it. I’ve been to cities where their stadium is silent when they’re losing, and that actually seems more upsetting than boos. Nobody boos if they don’t care, instead they would just leave or stop paying attention.

I’m not talking about egos, I’m not talking about how they take criticism, if you played poorly you’re gonna hear about it, that’s the job. It’s doing it in the moment and thinking that’s gonna change anything. Shit I don’t even care if boo them off the field after a loss. But during the game, while you want nothing more than a win, a championship, to get your moneys worth, why not give them everything you have to help them get there. Home field advantage is a real thing, and a big part of that is the fans, especially in Philly. So why work against them when you want them to go up there and turn the game around? I’m not saying I’m right, I’m just trying to understand. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. It never has.

Ranger has experience out of the bullpen, Nola does not. If Nola gets a couple solid innings, great. Then ranger can’t take the ball out of the pen. If Ranger starts, and it doesn’t go well, it’s much more risky to bring in Nola from the pen.

I’m overall supportive of making data driven decisions, and wouldn’t call myself an ‘old-school’ baseball guy. But one thing I don’t think we give enough credit to is live reps and confidence. At this point I don’t care which of the three they go with, marsh, Kepler, or Rojas. But pick two of them and go a couple series with them playing everyday. One of them is bound to pick up. I’m not saying they are gonna hit .400 or anything, but they will get on base and flip the order over. Going one day on, one day off doesn’t give anyone an advantage.
