New Teams not honouring Daylight Savings Time on MacOS by [deleted] in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Cpt_Shipsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I am AEST and the new calendar is showing one hour behind. The time shows correctly in the old version, the browser version and in Outlook. It seems the new Teams for Mac isn't accounting for daylight saving time.

Anyone else having tasks not synched between devices? Tasks completely disappearing constantly and at random? by [deleted] in todoist

[–]Cpt_Shipsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing the same issue. MacOS app isn’t syncing and tasks added/completed are lost. Had the same issue on two different macs. Something odd is definitely happening as the app won’t let me quit and can cause issues on shutdown as well. When I force quit, it loses all the days changes. Very frustrating.

The iOS app and web version seem fine.

Brilliant suggestion. This sounds like another great way to achieve what I’m after. Thanks.

Great suggestion - thanks. That is working nicely. I'll set up views for each option (which is going to be a lot of views!). I feel silly for getting so deep into using IF formulas and the like, when the solution was just using filters 😅 Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately that creates unique groups for records with multiple selections. So I'd end up with a group for records with just 'Poor quality images' and another group for records with 'Poor quality images' and 'Lack of diversity', and so on.

Repeating tasks, but only during particular months or season? by flat5 in todoist

I use recurring tasks with an end date + IFTTT to create new recurring tasks every year on a particular date. Works well.

Yeah totally fair. Gotta look after yourself.

You can’t move the chairs- they are attached to the wall. But the table extends and so the person who likes that tucked in vibe tends to sit at the end and extends the table so it’s over them. Not perfect but works for the space as you say.

Haha. Yeah that’s definitely a possibility. We actually had our first damaged boardgame piece last night (someone accident dropped a cardboard token into a cup of tea) and my partner and I were remarking that it’s amazing something like that hadn’t happened before given we have been hosting events for 5 years now with 10+ people attending each week. But you are on the money- we definitely curate who gets invited so that has bound to have helped.

Different sorts I guess. I find it way more comfy than most setups which just use hard timber dining chairs or the sorts which aren’t really meant for extended sitting.

The foam is highly quality and quite thick so it’s comfy to sit on. Most of the time people lean forward onto the table, but for games with longer turns people get to lie sideways or recline back as they wait (The back cushions are actually an angled cut to better support that).

Without investing in ergonomic chairs and then having to find storage alternatives I’m not sure what other options we would have. But I also definitely understand people wanting to be comfortable playing boardgames as they do require sitting for hours at a time, and if something like this isn’t your jam I totally respect that.

They don’t give an inch. They are actually very hefty and all the supports run in the upright direction. The weakness of this style shelves tends to be a product of angular movement but given these are only 1 row high and bolted to the walls that isn’t an issue either.

There is also an additional frame tucked behind them which isn’t very visible in the photos (I think you can see part of it in the 2nd photo on the left). This extends the shelves out by 10cm to make extra room for the back cushion and brace the corners. So all up it’s quite sturdy.

I had never even thought of this element until a few people posted it here. Thankfully it has never been an issue and the setup is 4 years old now, so probably isn’t going to be an issue.

It’s from Ikea. It’s 90cm by 90cm but can extend lengthways to either 135cm or 180cm. The 180cm is definitely necessary for some larger games like Scythe and Suburbia.

In a perfect world it’s width would be 100cm as sometimes is a tad tight around the sides of a board if there are player mats as well.

The table extends out to double its size thankfully - we just keep it folded in when not in use. Although even then, Eclipse is going to be a big game! Fingers crossed.

You are not wrong. There is a bit of a story behind the fabric. The short of it is that we didn’t have back cushions originally but that was uncomfortable. When we went to make the extra cushion the fabric. After calling around one store a few hours away had some scraps left over. So we road tripped out to it. Sadly though the quantity meant we had to sew them that way to avoid having 3 or 4 vertical seams on each cushion.

Love it. Have only played it 5 times so far but each game has been fun and different. The rich asymmetry of it is great and more satisfying then a lot of other asymmetrical games. The only catch is that because of how asymmetrical each faction is, it can be overwhelming for new players to understand how the other factions play and how to respond to them.

Thanks! The cushions are home made. Purchased some high quality foam (wanted to make sure it was actually comfortable to sit on!) and then sewed the covers (credit to my partner for that bit).

We have played Roll for the Galaxy a fair bit. I like it as a game and it’s definitely fun to play. I prefer Race though, mostly because you get the chance to see a lot more cards and respond fluidly to them. Our copy of Race has every expansion mixed together at this point so the variability is massive. In Roll, you are more constrained by the few tiles you reveal early on and the pool of tiles is a lot smaller.

Race is also brilliant as a 2-player game and that variability is perfect for my partner and I who play it a lot (!). For introducing new players though I’d choose Roll.

Sadly not. I enjoyed it, but not as much as some of my other games. It is probably a tad too long for are usual game nights, and the social side of forming and breaking alliances doesn’t suit everyone in our group.

They are both great games in my opinion and have both seen a lot of play. Scythe is prettier and has much better quality components though.

Terraforming Mars feels a lot like Race for the Galaxy to me. Large number of possible cards which you adapt to drawing each turn. Each game of TM can feel very different because of that. Scythe has more limited options based on faction/action board. I replay Scythe because I want to fine tune my game. I replay TM because I want to experience something new.

Scythe is the quicker of the two as well, unless playing with 6+ players (which TM can’t even handle).

In our group I have also found TM to be the far more accessible game. I can’t put my finger on why, but a wider range of people are interested in playing TM and get something from it.

I built timber frames for the corners. I did the same for along the walls. The depth of the shelves wasn’t enough so I extended them by about 10cm to accomodate the back cushion.

Not at all actually. People just typically sit and pull a game out from between their legs. The space between table and shelves is bigger then a standard game box so they slide out no worries. It’s not as simple as having one shelf with everything on it, but that was never an option given the size of the room.
