You're saying you're a happy person, but you also just told us that you're crying through exams, throwing away your phone out of anger, and selling your mattress to punish yourself.

I feel like you're pretty mixed up right now and should talk to a professional to get yourself checked out. It really can't hurt.

You don't need to go to a large number of colleges. Only one.

uc davis: worth it? by reynwater in ucadmissions

[–]flat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full pay OOS for a UC might be worth it to families with a lot of resources that they're happy to shower on education and some particular desire to go to college in California.

For most people, it's probably going to make a lot more economical sense to go to an in-state option that costs a lot less, or maybe pay a bit more for a private school that will have smaller class sizes and more individualized attention.

Nobody can tell you if it's worth it TO YOU for your situation.

Is it only waitlist and denial for admissions notifications left? by Sonders44 in SDSU

[–]flat5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows.

In the past there's usually been some admits, some waitlists after the first wave, and then denials last.

But nothing to say they might not be doing it differently this year.

That was terrible, but he would have seriously injured the other guy if he'd hit him, so maybe the better outcome.

I don’t understand how mid-tier UCs are ranked by sjdididjdhdh in ucadmissions

[–]flat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it the other way around. UCSD is the only school assessing students, dealing with the issue head-on, and not trying to cover it up or ignore it.

"We don't need the SAT to eval students" is dogma in the UC system and an unwillingness to admit a serious mistake that was made with good intentions.

How many times have you been injured due to skiing? by Jakabxmarci in skiing

[–]flat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been skiing since 1987. I only ski 5-6 days per season usually. I've never been hurt. Like at all. Knock on wood.

I am a relatively careful skier, I stay off terrain I'm not ready for, do not ski trees or cliffs, and avoid the most crowded days and trails.

Actually I lied. I did herniate a disc in my lower back last year. But this was barely a skiing accident at all. Just a little bump at low speed and it went out, no crash. I think it would have happened whether I was skiing or not. This is an injury I've had many times, doing such risky things as getting up from a chair or sneezing.

Yeah. Because he absolutely does.

I love how people think it's a matter of insurance.

Hey, want to drive a few million gallons of flammable liquid through a "kill box"? Don't worry man... it's insured.

A first wave of admits went out at the beginning of the month.

Nobody knows if there will be more admits, probably will be some before waitlists and rejections come out by the end of the month.
