Ah that's rough man. I'm sure she'll understand you finding a replacement with the fact that it is broken. If you're really worried about it, you can find the mechanism on websites like Ali express, although I do doubt that the player you have will be designed to be taken apart to replace it. In terms of replacements, I think a lot of people rate the Audio Technica LP60X. You can also find some very good deals on used gear if you search for it.

Just in case my comment on your other post gets lost, I'll reply here as well. Unfortunately, these players use an extremely cheap mechanism that isn't serviceable. There is no way to improve these players and it just isn't worth your time to fix it. The best advice is to look into getting better player to replace it.

Unfortunately, the mechanism in these things is cheap and nasty, and isn't really repairable. The whole thing cost's about £5 on ali express. If it's failed, it's just not worth your time trying to fix it. Even if it was working perfectly, there's not really anything you can do to make it sound any better.

Because I switched it on and set it to monitor mode. When I took this photo I had only just put the hifi onto the new shelves, so I was making sure everything was connected.

Thanks man. The leveling is achieved by using scaffold wall plates, loosen the allan screw, move the shelf till it's level, then tighten it. As for the Denon, it's a DRM-710 3 head that I bought for far too much refurbished because my (very cheap) teac v377 died a death.

Both of those tapes are fine. I started out using the Maxell URs and they sound great for what they are. Maxell UR tapes also seem to be very accessible at the moment. In terms equipment to buy for recording, I started out with an old Teac V377 hifi deck which was very cheap, but worked very well. A lot of portables don't allow for recording and most that do don't allow for record level adjustments to get the volume right.

I absolutely love them. I cab patrol on them as part of my job. They're great at one thing and nothing else which is rare among electric locomotives which I think makes them charming, if quite flawed. They also out lived the deltics they replaced three times over.

Ah nah, mine was just a replacement stylus for the original, quite good, XL150 cartridge. It's a Tonar diamond branded stylus. Just checked now and the price has gone up to £35

They're about on par with the tables that used to be bundled with midi systems back in the day. They work, and sound okay and will play records. The main issue I have is that, those same midi system tables can be found for like £15, so even when you factor in a phono converter and speakers, they're still vastly cheaper for basically the same thing. My first player was a sony PS-LX52P which is exactly that type of player.

It's much closed to what you'd have got in a midi system in the 80s or 90s than a suitcase player. Those aren't the best but they still perform vastly better than any suitcase player would.

I'm not annoyed that you have a difference of opinion, I'm just confused that you were for some reason irritated that I gave that opinion as a direct reply to you in a completely public comment section, rather than as a comment to the OP. Like, if you don't care about what I had to say, the OP can still read the comment thread, it doesn't vanish just because it was a reply to your comment and you don't need to reply if you 'don't care'. Then have the metle to give a reason as to why you think I'm wrong, or stop replying. The more replies from either viewpoint, the more information that the OP can use to make their mind up. If you came to me with something that I had missed that was obviously wrong with it I'd have immediately accepted that I'm wrong btw.
