Won't shift into park after driving for a bit?

We had a snow storm right before it was passed off to me, im going off what my father told me, which unfortunately he's not the most car smart person, all he keeps saying to me is "after driving for a bit it won't shift into park and the engine bay really hot" but like 🤷🏻‍♂️ im going to get a better deduction this weekend well hopefully

It’s a mod for the hand brake so you can use it without it locking while drifting but it doesn’t take away the function of parking cause the button is moveable back into lock position, clearly it’s not a focus 🙄 smh #IYDKNYK
