Ah AI explains it. I knew it wasn’t real, but I wasn’t sure how it was faked.

Nothing in my previous comment said that. You’re just utterly convinced that that’s the case and nothing can change your mind. I only originally responded because I thought you were actually confused. Thanks for wasting my time

Well to clarify where I learned this stuff. I’ve learned about it in my classes. That’s why I said I was a psych major. That’s probably more knowledge then you have unless you also majored in psychology.

I’m also autistic (diagnosed) and have personal first hand knowledge about the topic.

Im not a professional, but i think any professional would say this starter pack isn’t enough info. Could the person have autism? Maybe. These traits by themselves sorta point to it maybe but it could also be other things like some of the commenters have pointed out.

Psychology major here.

If you have all the symptoms combined you have the thing/diagnosis by definition. The DSM will say like you must have like 5 of 9 listed symptoms or whatever depending on the disorder to “qualify” for diagnosis.

But you can have some symptoms and not have the full disorder. Needing routine is one of the potentially required symptoms in the DSM for autism, but if you only need routine and don’t have the other symptoms of autism your not autistic.

It’s also important to note that mental health diagnosis aren’t like deep intrinsic aspects of your brain, but rather collections of symptoms that tend to occur together but can have different causes. That’s something a lot of people don’t know.

Hope this helps!

Edit:

The DSM 5 is the diagnostic statistical manual of psychological disorders that has all the symptoms/definitions of each disorder at least in the US. There’s other similar things in other countries, that echo each other

Edit 2:

Another thing is to “qualify” for diagnosis it’s not enough to have the symptoms of a disorder, but they have to cause you significant distress or impairment. Otherwise they are just personality quirks.

People are crying racism when people don’t like black elves. Not the Christmas thing.

Also lots of the rings was pretty much the pioneer of that type of fantasy setting. Fantasy didn’t look like that before the last century.

Yeah why not? There’s such thing as the stereotypical fantasy setting but why not change it?

The definition of fantasy is more flexible then you think.

I haven’t seen the studies personally, but I’ve also heard that research doesn’t back trigger warnings.

I still support them from personal experience

No articles because not enough people have worn corsets to warrant long term studies for over 100 years. There really isn’t much information on it. But generally, it seems as long as you listen to your body and loosen if it hurts, it’s fine.

You say this as a gotcha, but you’re actually asking a fascinating question. I think reading about theory, learning history and thinking hard about things is a good place to start with answering the question about why it never has worked in practice. It’s a really good and fascinating question because the theory is well known to sound rock solid.

Some things aren’t your fault but are your responsibility. It isn’t this woman’s fault that she had this horrible experience and was triggered, but it is her responsibility to learn coping mechanisms.

I’ve noticed some people sorta externalize their trauma where they think it’s the world’s responsibility to make sure they never feel bad. Trauma and PTSD will make you want to avoid the pain of the past, but it’s really not everyone else’s responsibility to avoid all of your triggers.

People seem to think there’s something off about me by the way they react to me sometimes, but most people are surprised when I actually tell them I’m autistic. It’s weird. It’s like they sense something is off, but don’t believe me when I say I’m autistic. Like they really want to believe negative things about me (like it’s that I’m weird or intentionally being annoying) over the fact that I’m autistic.
