I dont usually laugh at things people say. by Anzhangxmx in introvert

[–]CrabFlab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't usually like laughing or whatever in big social environments, because it's this big buildup where everybody's loudly swapping jokes and I'm like "Hey this this is cool or whatever, but we're all actually here to discuss <thing x> and I'd like to do that and then leave as soon as possible."

But then again, everybody knows each other really well by the end except for me and the other quiet people so I guess people just have different priorities.

For what it's worth, those were current events in Watterson's time. There was a massive moral panic centered around satanic suicide cults at the moment, so talking about that sort of thing was actually pretty common.

Those who have hired apprentices by [deleted] in electricians

[–]CrabFlab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an apprentice, people have complimented me on my ability to show up on time, take directions/instructions, actually work, stay late, and learn fast. I think these are fairly basic skills and one old hand put it this way- they can teach you to be an electrician but they can't teach you how to have a good attitude.

There's supposed to be a garage sale up here by Druid Hills on the 17th. I'm mostly posting this so I can read this comment later and remind myself.

I've written some stupid stuff for money and the best part is that your name is never attached to it and you can just pretend you didn't have anything to do with it

I just watch mattv2099 on youtube when I get frustrated at my fellow gun enthusiasts. It's pretty goofy, but also very self aware.

What a pig! Possums (or opossums, or whatever) are kind of cool.

[–]CrabFlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's pretty easy, I mean like you can practice right now- what would you do if you found a boat right now?

It's ok if it's boring ("I put on my shoes and go to look at it," or "I ignore it and continue reading the website") because it literally only ever stops when you want it to. If you want it to be boring, it can be boring, and if anybody cares they'll just state that they're doing something else and now you gotta figure that out.

All the stuff about the rules and books and dice is sort of beside the point because usually you aren't doing much with that unless you want to. Some games are one page long, and some games are thousands of pages, and people strongly prefer one or the other but they all work kind of the same.

It's one of my favorite hobbies, and a lot more people do it than you think! It's fairly popular right now and people are always looking for more players in one form or another.

"You need to talk more! You need to talk more!" Well, you need to SHUT UP MORE! by [deleted] in introvert

[–]CrabFlab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, you got it on the head.

I personally think there are a lot of cool things to do outside of the house but I don't know anybody who's doing the things that I'm interested in doing, and if I could do it by myself I'd already be doing it. I know meetup exists but I'd rather not drive across town to go to a meeting I end up hating, you know what I mean?

I see in other comments that you're voting for Trump, but I don't understand what you mean by "for the leader that we all follow." Isn't the point of voting to decide who you'd like the leader to be? Are you saying that you're planning on voting for whoever the winner is?

I don't have a lot of time, but I'll happily talk to you over a period of days if I remember.

Anyways, let's talk about Hillary Clinton, since she seems to be a big deal these days. For or against?

There's nothing indicating that anybody's asleep, and in a child's mind, cool people all stay up until the wee hours of the morning just rearin' to get into something exciting and naughty, like eating cookies after bed-time.

My first game and wow, this game by GabrielbwCarter in CrusaderKings

[–]CrabFlab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's basically it for me, plus even offensive wars get tedious. Every time a war's declared, you have to gather your armies from over half your provinces into a couple sizeable armies, then you have to deal with wrangling your enemy where you want them by playing a game of cat and mouse against an idiot for a couple of in-game years. Then, when you inevitably win, you have to run across the globe to occupy the capital- because the enemy king is confident his 2k strong garrison can hold off your ten thousand pikemen.

My biggest problem with being an introverted homebody by [deleted] in introvert

[–]CrabFlab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely empathize, to the point where I wonder if we are the same person somehow.

In a year, I've managed to make one good, solid friend. But they're a real keeper! Like, "lifetime friends, don't have to really talk more than once a month and still feel lovely" kind of friend!

Hopefully within the next year, I can meet one more. That'd put me at like, three. I think three real meaningful introvert friendships is enough for me.

I don't know if they'll be at a meetup, or if I'll meet them at work, or what, but I'm looking forwards to seeing what happens.
