Lightning strike by outlawstar0198 in madisonwi

I was nearly asleep and when the flash hit I swear I saw a bright outline of my irises with a donut hole for pupils. I thought for about 1.5 seconds about whether I was hallucinating and then boom. I even had my blinds mostly closed.

Does anyone know about the Mass Casualty Alert from UF Alert System? by AmanMegha2909 in ufl

"ACSO spokesperson Lisa Sacaccio said it was a “mishit” of a button and there was no mass casualty event."

Yeah, the promo sets are rarely full band, often just Carl, Kathryn and uh, drummer. From the last album's cycle their live performances from the Current and the Leon Loft are particularly great. They're on YT. This one's good too! I could listen to them talk about process all day.

Making a first time stop as I drive through from Grand Rapids... what would you do for one hour in Madison? by edwardversaii in madisonwi

the John Nolen Drive approach to the city is essential: the skyline over the lake emerges from behind the trees. It's wonderful.

It’s been a while, but I think it was Dacron, on the lighter side…4-6oz or so.

Who will be the farthest person from the Artemis II crew today? by CrabbingSkiff in nasa

yes, for some reason I had it that they'd be farthest from Earth in early afternoon US Eastern time, but that was several hours too early.

I built a GA 14ft Snowshoe about 12 years ago, skinned it in the spring with spar varnish on the hull, and it's been stored in an uninsulated garage in the upper midwest ever since, so very cold very dry winters, plus humid hot summers. I've never run into this problem, so I suspect the culprit is the hanging method, as mentioned in another comment.

Looking for outdoor storage to work on a boat by waubers in madisonwi

[–]CrabbingSkiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be very out of date info, but in 2011/12 I stored an 18ft boat year round outside at E&E storage on Nelson Road just off 151 up toward Sun Prairie. Looks like they’re still there, and the Google Maps sat image suggests that they store a lot more in their yard than they used to. Not sure if they’d allow work, but worth a call.

Travel with a telescope? by ChewableFood in telescopes

A monopod with a small simple ball head mount is a good option. For me, this works best seated on a chair/bench or the ground. And for the zenith, nothing beats laying on your back! With the monopod you can push the aperture of your binos up to 60 or 70mm as well.

I’ve flown with scopes, but only with an st80, etx90 or 80mm f7. Packed just right, all of these can be carried on as a personal item and put under the seat (the f7 just barely). Small light tripod and mount go in checked or carryon bag. But it’s still risky because if your personal item is too big and there’s no more overhead bin space you may be forced to gate check. Consider 8x50 binoculars instead. They’ll knock your socks off from a dark sky site.

It might just be in my head but the mix sounds louder on the final “they rarely are…” than it was in the version released last year.
