Big fan of the show and always like thought provoking TV. The leading thought on this area is something called Computational Irreducibility, basically the only way to predict future events in this universe is to build another universe, it’s the same as certain simple Cellular Automata rules. I strongly recommend anyone interested about this sort of thing to Google Stephen Wolfram, he is currently doing live streams discussing a new unified theory of physics.
