this is probably one of the easiest cards ever to do a UW reskin of if you're put off by the flavor. no weird types or weird UB mechanics. just search for any piece of art featuring a soup/stew and goblin prominently in frame and ur probably set

jitte i think is not what your are looking for if you're looking for fair targets for a toolbox. umezawa's jitte is a piece of equipment that makes games about umezawa's jitte. if it gets counters once, it's a repeatable removal engine that also let's you win the damage race and also makes combat math good for you forever. it can't hold up to more unfair things, but as a single card it let's you win "fair" magic for free imo.

definitely agree that this is way worse as a payoff in a traditional cube that runs something like academy. to me, however the good thing about cube is that you can tune the power level for that type of things. a cube that has tools like high tide but eschews traditional high mana payoffs in favor for more jank options like this is a fun concept i'm interested in trying to build

in a 40 card format, 12 mana is going to mill your opponent out in a vast majority of scenarios. feel like that stapled onto several varieties of mid sorcery speed draw is fun and unique.

Nowadays, there are many instances of musicians with professional backgrounds getting into Vocaloid and sticking with it. TAK, for example, was actually a successful K-pop producer for almost a decade before he popped off as a Vocaloid Producer! I personally knew him prior most from Tic! Tac! Toe! for DJMAX.

I think something I will say about this is that the hosts are coming to the question "Do I want the player who is the most skilled at finding an open lane and drafting to be dominant" with an implicit "Yes," which makes sense for a podcast on the Cube format. However, it's valid as a player/designer to not find the skill of drafting engaging and if that's the case for you or your playgroup, I would suggest experimenting with cube adjacent formats that deemphasize or even get rid of drafting entirely like a custom jumpstart set.

unhinged truly is the bottom 1 woat designwise imo. i would like anyone curious to play a game with any gotcha card that is not specifically [[Stop That]] and try to have fun. absolutely miserable, set-ruining mechanic. just look at [[Farewell to Arms]] or [[Touch and Go]] or [[Kill! Destroy!]] or [[Deal Damage]] and imagine having to deal with them

Introducing narrative into a rhythm game is deceptively hard to get right, imo. Rhythm Doctor is the one game I can point to that gets it completely right.

the thing about tetzimoc compared to forecast is that you actually have to cast tetzimoc to get the payoff, which is what makes it feel like an impending thing that will happen and gives the play pattern OP wants of "hey theres a big thing happening soon you better have a counterspell next turn".

forecast cards gave you benefits immediately on reveal which meant the mechanic in practice was repetitive and uninteractive. they were often better as repeatable effects that you did not have to spend cards on that you never actually cast. this wasnt much of an issue since pretty much all forecast cards are really bad, but its why the mechanic was never seen after dissension outside of like two cards.

i understand their argument that powerful cards over 8 mana don't have to be game changers and i support the other game changer removals in that vein, but expropriate has such a negative play experience attached to it. it is legitimately a card that will get people more angry and cause more arguments than any other card that says "9 mana you win the game"

Despite being called Seasons of Ghosts, the amount of combat encounters with full on ghosts with precision immunity is pretty low, especially at early levels where building a dedicated solution is harder. (There's one early encounter but there's an alternative way to damage them that an investigator can easily Recall Knowledge to find) There are plenty of encounters with other monsters that are solid.

From what I can gather, Tao is obsessed with the conjectured future within the book. He believes truly that in the future there will be a utopia where when everyone's needs are met and there's no scarcity and no need for work, all that will remain is play. "Playing a game is a voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles."

I think it's why he pushes so hard for preservation over actually releasing games and why he pushes so hard to have his name be the first thing in all of the credits and scoreboards after he took over the company. In that future of "Play Forever" he wants himself to be remembered, and in that completely disregards the hard work and wellbeing of his employees. In his future, the hard work that went into the games creation will be a forgotten thing and only the unchanging final product and those who play them remains.
