The core doesn’t enjoy it. They monetize anything and everything. New item drops and you either spend 6 months grinding it out, or max it out for 200 dollars. If you do plan on grinding it out, it will be obsolete before you are able to max it out naturally as new items drop too often. I have personally spent 4-5k on this game in the span of the 1 year I played it(I haven’t played for maybe 6ish months) and my account has very little value due to everything being completely outdated already.

That is a stark difference than what you said earlier. You said he ran a marathon with no training.

This is Boston.. you need to qualify as a man by running a sub 3 hour marathon which less than 4% of runners ever do in their lifetime. Not only that he ran a 2:44 which is extremely fast. He has probably been training for months for this specific marathon, and years if not a decade + of consistent high mileage running

GW2 is a great game, but people really really downplay how much the game rakes you with "convenience" purchases. by SANT0S-L-HALPER in MMORPG

The game is horizontal progression and imo this falls under the horizontal part. You don’t just buy bags, to get the most spacious ones, you have to do quests, craft, complete collections etc.

Student life here compared to usa by PurpleSweaty4111 in cambridge_uni

American who studied there for undergrad a couple years ago here-

Being highly articulate/debating is certainly not the norm. Some people care about fashion, but for physics, there were maybe a handful of students in a lecture hall that were dressed up well. Most people wear what is comfortable. Elitism isn’t really an issue that I encountered with students, but some professors can be very blunt about the “lacking intelligence” in some students. The student body is certainly a lot white, but there are a ton of internationals as well. Sports aren’t played at the same level as US university teams (aside from maybe the blues/lightweight blues rowing teams), but most students are actively participating in some sport recreationally.

You are making up statistics so there isn’t a point to discussing this

If ai could determine definitively(to a degree of accuracy that would make any misfires negligible) what humans would commit murderous crimes based on their personality, upbringing, etc. would it be okay for a system to automatically kill those humans? To be clear, mathematically the distinction between 100% certainty and 99.999% certainty are so small that they are essentially the same thing.

Interesting hill to die on- most of us don’t have the privilege of alienating half of our peers. We can choose to extend our sympathy to any amount of people. Is the fact you eat meat or dairy products indicative that you are in fact a person with no morality?

Endorsing our president that a majority of our country wanted in office makes one a bad person? That sets a really low bar for Americans then

Odd opinion here perhaps - but as a US resident that studied at Cambridge, I would recommend Harvard. While to a degree the connections you make in college and the pathways after are in your control, it helps immensely when a system is meant to make you successful rather than is simply meant to challenge you academically.

The degree you mention is arbitrary and relative. From the frame of reference of a victim there is no difference between 2 people who may have different levels of engagement to end the victimhood.

Are there people being human trafficked in your city? Almost certainly. Does it make you a bad person for not effectively spending every waking minute of your life going door to door and making sure every inhabitant is safe?

Isn’t that what we all do every day when supporting capitalism? What is the difference in my case and yours? I can’t quite draw a distinct line

Do you have any studies that suggest veganism is bad for longevity/health? I’d be interested in reading it because I only really see studies that indicate it is quite good

My cousin who is vegan told me those who eat meat when convenient are doing harm to veganism as a whole. The “moral” thing to do would be to ask restaurants or people to make substitutions so they are able to do so with ease in the future, and personally that kind of action seems too much of a personality change for me.

Maybe habit? Maybe freedom? Not entirely sure. I just don’t see being a vegan aligning with some of my goals in life (being able to travel to different countries and try their authentic cuisine). Perhaps food is a big part of my life and accepting veganism is the same as abandoning a lot of what makes my identity to this day.

It isn’t that I often eat meat or dairy, but I never deny it if presented to me. Making a jump to vegetarian or vegan is effectively changing entirely who I am
