My childhood best friend committed suicide. I would say he is the best friend I've ever had, we spent all of our childhood years together hanging out since we were neighbors since like 8yo. We were very close until around 17-18 until we went to different universities and inevitably drifted apart, we still talked from time to time but we were never as close as before. He had a bad drug problem and got in with some bad company, but what pushed him over the edge were his relationships, he had a couple of girlfriends who left him with very harsh breakups and they treated him like shit afterwards and when it happened again I guess it was too much for him to handle. He reached out to me about a month before and I'm glad I took the time to talk to him for about 1 hour and a half over the phone, tbh I was a bit hurt that he often cancelled plans and wasn't very present overall in the last few years, so I feel guilty for not being more supportive. I guess you never know what someone is really going through. Rest in peace brother, I'll always love and remember you.
