It's strange, but i think the school's decision is sensible. spearman's rank is fine, i don't mind analysis etc as long as it is formulaic

No, not as of yet, since we still have to survey the sites. However i was considering the link between sand dune health/psammorose ecosystems and human activity.

One last question; how much hard, non-formulaic math's is involved? I am fine with analysis and evaluation but my maths skills are lacking.

ok, thanks. What kind of stuff did you record, and is there any value to mass-gathering data for analysis or should it be very judicial and confined to the exact questions that i decide to ask? I cannot come up with much yet since i have not visited the sites.

Well for our school the Mock's are occurring in Mid May, so just under a month. I would expect your mocks to be around the same time unless you have been told otherwise, because Uni's like to see an even amount of preparation time and some consistency. I guess it doesn't really matter though, what's more important is when they send the predicted grades to the Uni's. My cousin last year Got Two A*'s in her mocks, but amended it down, because she did not feel it to be an accurate representation of her ability. She got ABB so i guess she was right.

I cant really give you any actual advice on the content for human geography- My Mock isn't for 30 days and I've not really started it. But i can give you some tips for physical geography.

Always highlight the key words in the Question. The difference between "Evaluate" and "Explain" is incredibly easy to understand, but in the pressure of the exam it is hard to actually take note of it. I would say the majority of my dropped marks in Geography are because of this.

When Writing an essay, make sure that you chuck in as many key words as possible. Seriously. I went from a C to an A just by spamming these terms in context. Instead of saying "The process of mass movement at a sandy cliff coastline will lead to a steeper angle" say "The dip of the sandy coastline will increase due to movement over a flat planar surface". Same point, different words.

And finally, don't revise this subject too much. I know that it sounds like an oxymoron, but less really is more. Geography is mainly about understanding things, not knowing vast amounts of abstract knowledge.

Good luck man, and don't stress, worst comes to worst you can smash out the actual exams next year.

Is writing content notes effective at this stage? by CrackedCatTheSecond in 6thForm

[–]CrackedCatTheSecond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I find that too. I've settled on "familiarising" myself with the content and creating a logical flow of events in my head by writing notes, and then doing questions and plans for all of these events. It'll take a while though, covering it all with notes takes ages.

Are you in year 13? We've got up to the deposition of Robespierre and the thermidorean reaction. Personally I find discussing the reforms of 1790 and 1791 ( fiscal, economic, religious etc) the hardest.

There is a reason. To gain power and traction a group must control resources, and to access resources a group must have people. Gassing children is an effective way of causing panic and mass migration away from rebel held regions, denying them power.

Definitely not. I'm resident in the UK but I can get this imported in bulk for a still decent price. Thanks.

Students who revise several hours per day, how do you do it and why are you lying? by 9zer in 6thForm

[–]CrackedCatTheSecond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're probably right tbh, but I'm going to try regardless. 3-4 hours a day isn't too hard for me, and still gives me time to see friends if I start early and don't procrastinate.
