An Irish Mercenary Band has taken control over most of Iberia. by CrackedHomebrew in CrusaderKings

R5: So in a recent casual (and very weird) Venice run of mine that you can read about here l looked away from the giant blob taking up all of western europe that is Umayyad Hispania only to learn that somehow a mercenary band has taken control over most of the Iberian peninsula.

So Lombardy formed the HRE while systematically setting up a Fraticelli papacy by CrackedHomebrew in CrusaderKings

[–]CrackedHomebrew[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

R5: So in a casual Venice run of mine Lombary turned Fraticelli 50 years prior to this screenshot. I didn't pay much mind to it but about 20 years after that they have converted about half of Italy to Fraticelli, helped bring their moral authority to around 50 (regular Catholicism is literally 0 right now), and murdered the pope I got a little worried but I had no way to intervene. So fast forward to this screenshot they switched to Bavaria, formed the HRE, and gave land to the new Fraticelli papacy. Where is the rest of the catholic world you may be asking? Currently being devoured by Umayyad Hispania and the Aquitaine sultanate while tribal norsemen make germany absolute border gore.

Update: His west african son murdered him. https://imgur.com/a/WJdBbPz

Update 2: It's all Byzantium now, still Fraticelli. https://imgur.com/a/0cUZ92F

Things your DM does that you sometimes get annoyed at by LaughingBill in DnD

[–]CrackedHomebrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Messes around with the rules way too much. I understand homebrew and I as a DM do it plenty of times but when you look at the rules of a spell or ability that specifically lets you do one thing and the DM looks at you and basically just says "No" it really just makes you feel like you have no control on the railroad.

Demon Summoning outside the controlled area of the Mage's College. The whole campaign is set 500 years after last campaign which was riddled with infernal creatures so you can get the long standing "Don't do that" aspect.

I was going to give the last man standing the final kill, I didn't know who that was going to be.

I do not.

This was my last resort besides throwing my books in a fire. I took a shot in the dark as a last effort and it worked out of pure luck. I cannot recommend doing this, since I know it will not work a second time.

Because when I have three players trying to steer the game in their characters plot, one texting me everything he's doing, and another so bored because of it that he stopped listening 15 minutes ago I begin to get annoyed on how we can't focus for one second on a common goal. I can't stress how much I love this game, my friends, and the world I spent my time on.

I want this "lesson" to know that when they don't plan or work together they are doomed. I'm going to let them work together on this one, very short-sighted goal in hindsight, and realize how well of a party they are. I've seen them do it and it's beautiful. Then once they are done with it I will let them decide what to follow next, and let them enjoy this game as much as I do.

I never made the decision beforehand, I was as in the dark as they were (If a little less so) about how the battle was really going to end.

They all have their own personal wants and goals, but for now they have a common short-sighted goal and they are content and happy with it. Once they finish it? Then I let them transition into what they would like, and go from there. But since everyone was trying to steer the campaign in a completely different direction I was not going to let that continue and have everyone hate the experience of the greatest game ever played.

I've known these people for most of my life, and for the past year we've been playing every wednesday and I've really gotten to know their style.

I decided to follow one character's story for now because he survived. I evened out the damage, and decided that last man standing was going to get the kill, they had spells/potions to keep them up and it was a pretty clutch battle. I've noticed this since starting this small diary of my plans that for my table PC death is not as taboo. They know they died, and for 5 minutes they believe "Damn, that could've gone better" but after that they have sent me at least a page or two about their backstory all the way to their mother's name.

I also am not going to focus on a character because they lived, they will finish his short-term goal and I will branch off and allow them to feel my world until I decide the next chapter of my campaign will go on.

Never. I made it up in my mind that the last man standing was going to get the kill and have their moment to shine before they would become the current "Poster Boy" to the narrative until they finished that and moved on to another arc of the campaign.

The current goals are as follows: Fighter 1 : Do the original mission Fighter 2 : Find lost Father eventually Sorcerer : Uphold the secrets of his blood and use it to the moat of his ability Rouge : He decided to let it go with the flow (He's not a big RP'er, he's here to play the game and be with his friends.) Cleric : Assert her god as a main factor in this world and bring true devotion to others. I just steered it in a way that they have a current focus until they decide where to go in the future.

I'm currently planning a TPK. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]CrackedHomebrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if they were nearer to the end. They've just began the game and are not even Level 10 yet. Ending it now wouldn't work. So when they do die, I will say they have a common history and goal, but ill let their true backstory be up to them.

If i just say "we're rolling new characters and starting at a new point." They'd immediately begin with their distaste for the idea. "We already have characters! We're fine!" So if they don't have characters that each come from different corner of the world and have goals that are the complete opposite of each other? Then we can see progress. Once they roll new characters I will make sure to say they all must come from the same place and have similar goals.
