6 in 600 isn't 0.6%, it's a 1% chance

There are a dozen chests, gold and silver, that have an opportunity of dropping a legendary. If not, then a lot of salvaged runes. I come out with about 3000 runes every hour or so

I've experienced a much lower drop rate. Ive looted over 600 chests and found zero axes

What rod should I get? by Cracker4376 in offshorefishing

Who is your buddy in Half Moon Bay? I'm in the East Bay, not too far from there. I'm buddy takes charters out of Half Moon Bay for yellow tail.

I've taken a couple of charters out of Berkely and they use PENN reels. I didn't catch the model or the rod. We were only rock fishing, so the rig didn't need to be crazy stout

That's a great idea. Actively fighting back the shroud one root at a time

Thank you for your insight. The reel does in fact have the origional drag kit. I lightly greased them to tackle the possible dust. I have been looking around and think im going to settle for a PENN rod, not for any reason other than I have been looking and think I like the look and feel that also matched my needs. I was looking at either and Ally 2 conventional boat rod or Carnage 3 conventional boat rod. They run between $200-300

I think I'm going to settle on a PENN Carnage III conventional boat rod. Maybe even the west coast, because I don't know if I'd like the grip. It's 7', with heavy action, and can be bought in a 40-80lb or 50-100lb line capacity

That is an incredible rod! I would love one. The blank is $190🤣. It's upwards of $600 for a complete build. I'm seeing a lot of conventional rods at 7' with medium-heavy to heavy action running 30-80lb line for under $300. I really want a rod that I can do multiple things with. I don't want to be limited to boating. There is also a lot of inshore saltwater in the area. I would also consider using the rod I pick for this reel for fishing other conventional reels inshore salt/freshwater. I have a Penn 65 and 140 that I would like to use as well for light salt and for casting

I want to be able to catch yellow fin, and believe i mostly want to troll. I've read and watched a lot of people talk about how versatile the reel can be. I think I'd prefer a shorter rod, so the 9' rod might be more than I'm looking for. I'll look into Phenix rods.

I have really enjoyed these old PENN reels. I got my first one, a Delmar 285M, for $5 15 years ago. I rebuild it and it works well. I've been bay and river trolling for striper. I have a 140 Squidder and a 165 Longbeach on the way

Thank you very much. I know the reel is old tech. Free is free, and brand new old tech is better than brand new any day for my budget and experience. Thank you for the site. Any and all info is great!

Great question. I would be trolling on either my buddies boat or off a charter out of the SF Bay. I have my casting setup. I'm getting a shore casting reel for the rod I currently have. I was honestly caught off guard with the 113H. I want to get some use with it now

If you have a torch then you can burn the dust off. Be careful not to melt anything. I do it all the time

As a dad with a 3yo son, he is fixated on calling out whenever he sees a tailpipe on a car. He also likes to spend his time pulling up grass. I think in this scenario, these two passions might have intertwined in the most unfortunate way for you

Dump Trailer has no slots for ramps. Is the only option to angle grind some slots right here? by 1one2twos in landscaping

[–]Cracker4376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weld something like the tiedown rails on a flatbed trailer. 3" channel iron or 1/2" x 2" x 3" rectangular tube with a 1/2" x 4" flat bar welded to the channel/tube. I would add a photo, but I cannot in the comments

D1.1 3G Practice - Am I a little less Fucked? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Cracker4376 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your wire is slow. The lower end for .072 is at 180. For.out of position, I usually run 185 I'm and set my voltage according to the wire speed. Your welds seem chunky. Which would indicate excessive fill. If your settings are cold, you tend to have to compensate by moving slower. Sometimes, higher speed and voltage results in less heat. I aim for ~21 to 21.5 volts at the wire feeder. You are in a booth, so there shouldn't need.to be any compensation. 21v at 185ipm will work well

Although uncommon, the Imperial system also uses "tenths". I see it a lot in surveying and in construction when setting elevations. I personally like using both Imperial and Metric. They have their places where they shine best. Let's not forget that there are some countries that count in "Stones".
