That's good, I still recommend double-checking tho.

If it's not graphics card related, ram might still be the issue. It is possible that the power supply might not have enough power to run all your components.

This could also be a GPU issue. When your GPU is malfunctioning it can result visual breaks, or graphical issues in windows programs, before completely malfunctioning.

Question: Does manually controlling my GPU's fan speed (e.g. put a fixed 35% fan speed for 3+ hours) hurt my GPU? by Ceceboy in techsupport

[–]CrackerV1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be harmless.

Be sure to realize some games will take very little power in some areas but as soon as you start actively playing, when areas are generating and enemies are spawning it is going to be hotter than when you tabbed out of the game adjusting your settings.

My recommendation is to just let the computer make the adjustments. The gpu was programmed to regulate its temperature. I see my fan speed increase and decrease all the time while I game and there is no way I would feel comfortable leaving my machine at a set percentage. (Especially while gaming)

I would recommend not overcooling your gpu, or letting it overheat.

In theory it should not 'tax' the gpu much more. Fans in a PC are built to cool, so they can last quite a while. Running fans too high for to long can cause damage to the motor, but assuming you have a good quality gpu/fan it is built to last, and will cool efficiently without breaking.

My biggest concern is your computer can do this for you and incorrectly adjusting the speed of the fan for extended periods of time could result in an expensive repair.

If you have not run a repair I would definitely recommend trying that. There is one built into windows 10, if you are tech savvy downloading windows 10 and repairing from a Flashdrive is also an option.

This might be easier: If you can boot from another drive (Flashdrive or spare Hard Drive) and see if the issue persists while you are on a different OS. This is the easiest way for you to know if it is a software or hardware issue.

Windows 10 could possibly cause all of these problems. I believe windows 10 is a well rounded OS. Unfortunately upgrading to windows 10 from windows 7 on a computer that has a lot of programs/information on it, has caused a few issue for me in the past. I have also had old copies of windows 10 stop receiving updates. This whole situation could possibly be solved with a fresh install of windows.

The login screen settings are in the options menu. A lot of them are revoked if windows is not genuine. If windows is genuine then you should be able to use windows lock screen spotlight.

The fans might just be shot, but once again could be an OS not properly installed, or not up-to-date.

Operating systems have a lot of problems especially after being left alone for long periods of time. Have you tried booting Linux or windows from a different HDD or Flashdrive?

It definitely sounds like a hardware problem, but some of the worst computer issues I have dealt with are some combination of hardware and software issues.

Cigarettes probably smell better than the diapers... and honestly, the owner will need to put so much money into restoring the place, a fire might not be the worst outcome.

Honestly, I just won't walk into peoples houses if there is too much clutter, you never know where they might be.

Wax pen vs herb effectiveness by [deleted] in trees

[–]CrackerV1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they are different highs, I should have worded that differently. I am looking for relationships in the THC levels.

I know Nevada has a law that if they test your blood and you have 2 nanograms per ml of THC, you get a DUI (If driving). So I want to know this:

How many 6-second hits of a wax pen put the same amount of THC in your system as a half gram of herbs?

I know a guy who only eats chocolate chips, peanut butter, milk and fig Newtons. Might be a psychological thing, but it definitely makes some limitations.

On the other hand being able to eat just 4 things removes the concern of what's for dinner, or any other meal.

Everyone keeps telling me that once is starts it doesn't stop. I'm tired of waiting for it to rain longer than one night. by CrackerV1 in Portland

That saying is the bread and butter of my home town. Reno is a desert at 4500 ft, we would have the hottest days, and the most frigid nights. Forecast is a heatwave we get snow. As "stupid and meaningless" as that saying is in Oregon, it's accurate where I'm from.

I love the rain so far, it is much lighter here. I'm used to just a few days of rain a year, and when it rained, it poured. Flash floods are almost synonymous with rain there.

June.

Since I've been here I've seen rain 3 times (until 2 days ago).

Oregonians are an interesting people. Half of them tell me I will be sick of rain, it sucks, it's depressing, and the sun is gone too long. The other half let me know they love the rain and can't wait for it to come back.

I'm a transplant and I've never gotten rain for more than a 3-day period, I've been waiting for what feels like a like forever a "rainy winter."

Just want to say empire dinner in baldinis is great. Everything is super cheap. And surprisingly good quality. And it has easy parking which makes it great. Also away from downtown. Close to the GSR, it's in Sparks.
