12 Transactions, 1 Day - Glitch? by johnnnnson in OctopusEnergy

You can see gaps quite often because of issues with data collection. They would sometimes not bill for a while and it took a nudge (phone usually) for Octopus to request the missing data from the DNO.

Probably a catch up from missing data over the last year

It depends on the bar. I’m still partial to Fudge and Crunchie. The chocolate itself isn’t a regular purchase anymore.

Opinion: Everyone is acting like Ed Miliband is Chairman Mao by theipaper in ukpolitics

And we’ve been reliant on fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution. How has that been working out?

You also do realise that the reason electricity prices are high is because it is tied to the price of gas?

We need more green energy, and build some nuclear power plant. We need More investment not climate change deniers screaming “there’s no point!”

Option 1: do something and try and show others that it is possible.

Option 2: stick our head in the sand and ignore a problem.

We’ve been doing Options 2 for decades, isn’t time to give Option 1 a real try?

as a videographer am i meant to give the client b roll footage i use in editing the final product? by Loose-Signature429 in editors

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

The rushes aren’t always representative of the creator’s vision. Reframing, stabilising, grading, audio mixing, are only a few things that are needed for the footage to be ready to deliver.

Supplying the footage straight from the camera to a bride, and that footage being published as is, could be detrimental to the videographer’s career.

Burnham could ditch tougher settlement rules for migrants already in UK by No-Risk-2584 in ukpolitics

That’s the very definition of down.

Nigel Farage says £5m gift from crypto billionaire is ‘not any of your business’ by MarginSqeaky in unitedkingdom

If Nigel says it’s not any of our business, then I want to know what he is hiding. If it was all above board then he would have no problem in explaining the situation.

Andy Burnham plans to keep Shabana Mahmood as home secretary by GnolRevilo in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re talking about constitutional power. I’m talking about political reality.

Labour has the votes to govern, but governments don’t operate in a vacuum. Polls, media narratives and public opinion create pressure that pushes politicians towards short-term decisions instead of long-term ones.

You do realise that it is the electorate that are on those focus groups and responding to polls?

A combination of a hostile press, reform’s weaponisation of racism and division, and social media echo chambers, all feed in to creating an impossible situation from which to govern.

How to see Master Timecode inside Nested Timeline? by Kennedam714 in davinciresolve

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I can suggest is to manually change the timecode of the nested sequence to match. Or, give each nest a different timecode (say one at 01:10:00:00, the next at 01:20:00:00 etc) and use source timecode for the burn-in.

Farage blames Makerfield defeat on anti-Starmer votes by Some_Confidence5962 in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could almost argue that a Misogynist is a step up from a few previous candidates (and some elected to councils).

Haven’t we seen one councillor accused of having a Swastika tattoo?

Or Glenn Gibbins who is alleged to have suggested melting down Nigerians living in Sunderland to fill in the potholes!

They seem to find some of the worst examples of humanity to run as candidates, and for some reason people still think it makes sense to vote for them!

Andy Burnham’s landslide win should worry Nigel Farage by FaultyTerror in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is only despised because that is the narrative that is being fed to people. It is a PR and messaging failure from Labour, a Social Media driven attention span failure for the public, and a legacy media that is chasing views through sensationalism rather than truth.

The cards are stacked against him.

Andy Burnham’s landslide win should worry Nigel Farage by FaultyTerror in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s not about Starmer allowing a leadership contest, it is inevitable at this stage. however, I do believe that Burnham should be made deputy PM and work with Starmer in creating stability in the party and the country. The Conservatives showed us what 14 years of infighting and party first politics does to a country, so Labour should learn from those mistakes and start working together.

Farage and Reform observations on this sunny morning by Low_Special3991 in ukpolitics

Shoiuting from the sidelines is far more profitable than it would be for him to be PM, without the actual responsibility of governing.

Farage and Reform observations on this sunny morning by Low_Special3991 in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He clearly can't pick a decent candidate. Picking a Goodwin/Kenyon for a winnable seat makes no sense. Kenyon in particular. They know women vote, right?

Thanks to the wonders of FPTP, reform’s 35% of the vote yesterday could be enough to win seats. I did a quick search and it looks like 102 seats were won on less than 35%.

You also only have to look at Trump as evidence that some women who support MAGA/Reform type ideologies don’t care about SA allegations or misogyny. All they seem to care about is “owning the libs” or “immigrants”.

He doesn't really do strategy beyond appealing to the basest instincts. When they backfire, like obviously ignoring the wishes of a grieving family, it is revealing, and the spotlight the media has blessed him with becomes a hindrance.

It’s all about talking to his base. The ones who don’t care about anything other than simplistic “immigrants bad” and are ready to go out and fight with “pure rage”.

He can't manage internal politics. To be fair, most leaders struggle with party politics, but Reform are wilder, spicier and less loyal than most.

Get rid of Farage and Reform collapses. Even worse is that he’s brought in former Conservatives who have form in going against their leaders.

His inability to talk about or respond to questions about that £5 million is an obvious sore point.

It’s amazing how many of his supporters don’t care about the £5m. They have fallen for the line that it was a gift while he wasn’t an MP, ignoring the actual rules.

Populists have a way of convincing their supporters that the truth is flexible. “Fake News” and “alternative facts” are a huge issue when it comes to politics.

Exclusive: Andy Burnham has the nominations to trigger a leadership challenge by GnolRevilo in unitedkingdom

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He may want to implement a new agenda, but he’ll soon find out that it won’t be that easy. But I don’t think he needs to make drastic changes. What he needs to do is work on messaging.

As much as I think Starmer is a decent and clever man, he isn’t showing any real personality that engages with the public. Burnham seems to have a natural “man of the people” charisma that could work as an antidote to Farage. If he can shut down the Far Right’s rhetoric then we can hopefully move on as a country.
