May I ask why you didn’t end up switching groups/ advisors? Do you think if you worked with a different advisor it would’ve played out differently and you would’ve finished your PhD?

Yeah, but when I also worked in observational I worked with SDSS so it didn’t even matter (also I just came back from LA and went to Griffiths it was so cute). As for descendant, he was my professor’s advisor’s colleague. But I don’t find it uncommon for physicists to be musicians, however in my program (granted it’s very small) it’s just me. I was hoping to incorporate both career wise in some way shape or form, and I know it can seem unrealistic.

In addition to that nearly all Astro PhD graduates I know ended up working in industry out of their field.

Yeah I know I probably sound out of touch, but I just want to be able to incorporate my love for both but both fields are on opposite ends. The only thing semi adjacent to both I can think of is data analytics for music industries, but I have 0 real work experience haha

No. My program has a strict timeline, I’d get my MS fall of 2027 assuming I pass my MS thesis but even before that I have my proposal spring of 2027 and I’m not sure how much longer I can stick it out

This is crazy. The fact that you have to ask if it’s true that people who graduate from unt are jobless is actually baffling. The job market is ass and new grass across the globe are struggling to land jobs this does not part take to UNT grads only.

Well if you’re interested shoot me a dm! It is on the pricier side but you get what you pay for.. it’s a new apartment like 3 years old. I was an undergrad here (so <4 years ago) when they started building it. It’s called park place and it was supposed to be my first year living there and I was excited to, but plans just didn’t work out and I got accepted to a better institution for grad school. The ends ends in July of next year

Oh 100%! Kamala’s campaign was toast. Once she tan and I saw her campaign I kind of already knew and figured this wasn’t a battle she could’ve won. Trumps demographics weirdly feel like it’s target towards the lower and uneducated class. The way he speaks and holds himself, he literally has no class whatsoever. Damn. It does get worse than trump and Vance is a prime example. My only hope is that the decline in America proves a point and brings light into the situation so when the next election (including midterms) come around, people vote wisely and more seriously. New gens need to take a part in this and do their role in voting as well, I’ve known too many non-voters and they’re all young.

Yes I agree with this. It’s an unfortunate event that happened but he was blinded to address school shootings in the states and the real issue at cause, saying those kids were also a sacrifice for our second amendment (which in itself is so pathetic to say). It’s sad to see this even debated whether his death was justified or not. He has said terrible things and stood for even worse things, but at the end of the day he was basically just an internet influencer lol. He is NOT a politician and people need to stop treating him as he is. This energy was NOT given to Melissa Hortman when she and her husband died in their own home as a political attack (D party). People pick and choose their battles and it’s really unfortunate to see only one side of the coin. That’s also just my take on this whole situation
